Ruby Inez Moore Laborde

Rebecca Moore stated that she was born in
Kentucky in 1805. As yet, we have not been
able to find her parents and siblings.

1830	Ouachita Parish

Rebecca Moore between 25 and 30

	2 males between 5 and 10
1 female under the age of 5

Our earliest record of Rebecca Moore is on the
1830 census in Ouachita Parish, where she is
shown with 2 sons between the ages of 5 and 10
- and a daughter under the age of 5. This
daughter was born between 1826 and 1830, and
either married or passed away sometime between
between 1830 and 1850.

It is unclear whether or not Rebecca Moore
was ever married. She had six children between
1821 and 1838, but we have not, as yet, ever
found an adult male listed in her household.

From Rebecca Moore’s own testimony, we find the following: Rebecca Moore b. 1805 KY David King Moore b. 1821 KY Phillip Moore b. 1822 KY Peter Moore b. 1834 LA Joseph Moore b. 1837 LA Eliza Moore b. 1838 LA From this record, we now know that Rebecca and her two oldest sons, were born in Kentucky. At the present time, we know that our Moore family moved from Kentucky to Ouachita Parish between 1822 and 1830. Since Morehouse Parish was created from part of Ouachita Parish, it is unlikely that there was an actual move, as such, from one parish to another after 1830. 1850 Living next door to Rebecca Moore was Andrew Lee with a big family. Living in this household was Mary Ann Glover. Her relationship is not mentioned. All other family members were Lee. Phillip Moore would later marry Mary Ann Glover and they would become the parents of India Shirley Moore. Also living a few houses away was Zach Worley and Elizabeth Barlow. Only one child would survive Zach and Elizabeth. His name was Charles Alexander Worley. Charles Alexander Worley would have two relationships with the family of Rebecca Moore. Following the death of his first wife, Laura Donovan, Charles Alexander Worley’s second wife would be Phillip Moore’s daughter, India Shirley Moore. Three years later, Charles Alexander Worley’s oldest daughter by his first marriage, Rena Narcissis Worley, would marry David King Moore’s youngest son, William Joseph Moore. In effect, a father and daughter married two first cousins. This creates quite an interesting relationship among the descendants of Charles Alexander Worley and Rebecca Moore. Charles Alexander Worley's grandchildren by his oldest daughter and his childen by his second wife were all the grandchildren of David King Moore and his brother, Phillip Moore - the two oldest sons of Rebecca Moore. Looking backward from today, I am descended from the marriage between Rena Worley and William Joseph Moore. Ann is descended from the marriage of Charles Alexander Worley and India Shirley Moore. Therefore, my g-grandmother and her grandfather were half brother and half sister on our Worley side, and my g-g-grandfather and her g-grandfather were brothers on our Moore side. 1860 By 1860, Joseph was the only child left at home. From that point forward, Rebecca is found in the same household with Eliza and her husband, William Henry Neiman. It is unclear whether Rebecca and Joseph went to live with Eliza and her family, or whether William Henry Neiman simply moved in with the family when he and Eliza married. Further investigation of land records will answer this question.
