David King Moore

Born: 1821 Kentucky

Brought to Morehouse Parish Louisiana
as a child by his mother, Rebecca Moore

David King Moore was as "interesting" a fellow as Charles Alexander Worley. Piecing the story together from census records, we come up with the following: David King Moore & Mary Parker
Children: Julia Ann Moore b. 1846 Celia Ann Moore b. 1849 Martha Moore b. 1852 Mary Ann Moore b. 1859
David King Moore b. 1821 KY m. Abt. 1845 in Morehouse Parish Mary Parker b. 1812 Bavaria, Germany When David and Mary married, he was 25 and she was 33. We do not know Mary’s maiden name. She had evidently been married to a Parker and brought 3 children into the marriage with David King Moore. These children, and their ages at the time of her marriage to David King Moore were: Josiah 12, Rebecca 8, and Mary Jane 5. It looks as if Mary Parker died between 1859 and 1865. Mary Parker’s daughter, Rebecca Parker would later marry her step-father’s younger brother, Peter Moore. David King Moore & Malissa "Unknown"
Children: Letha Moore b. 1866 Stephen Moore b. 1868 Henrietta Moore b. 1869 William Joseph Moore b. 1870 (Grandpaw)
David King Moore married Abt. 1865 Malissa Angeline McCauley b. 1841, MS. By this time, he had begun to go by his middle name and shaved a couple of years off his age. Malissa was 20 years younger than he was. Malissa died between 1870 and 1880. David King Moore and Malissa’s youngest child, "Joe" Moore, was my g-grandfather. In the 1880 census, a 23 year old Francis Cain is listed as David King Moore’s step- daughter. I have not yet determined if she was Malissa's younger sister, Frances Catherine
McCauley - perhaps married to a nearby Cain and now separated. If that was the case, then David and
Melissa would have taken her in. It is interesting to note that Angeline (as she was called in the Moore family) named her sons Stephen and William Joseph. Her father was William S. McCauley, Sr. and the brother just older than she was William J. McCauley. Perhaps she named her sons for her father and brother. Her daughters were Letha and Henrietta. Perhaps these names will lead us to her mother, Charity "Unknown. I had to laugh… by the census of 1880, David King Moore had shaved two MORE years off his age and had become King D. Moore.
