A 1997 Pierce Saber heavy rescue from Manderville, LA seen here in the Avondale area. An authorized Pierce repair and service facility just opened up in Avondale so we should start seeing perhaps a variety of equipment in the area.

Everything here in Mandeville is Pierce. This is their very good looking 1988 Dash with a 50' ladder. When they said 88 I thought it might be an arrow, but it wasn't.

Note the "FireMedic" on the top front of this 1996 Ford E-350 rescue. The medic unit rolls to all calls and the operator fills in as a firefighter when medical attention is not needed thus the name fire-medic. All firefighters are qualified at the Basic EMT level with the Mandeville, LA FD.

I shot one of Slidell's newest apparatus before it was delivered to them Saturday (8-9-03) at the Landmark Hotel in Metairie, LA. Pierce had it there with several other trucks on display for the LA State Fireman's Association Convention. Thanks to Wayne Prejean with Pierce for moving the truck that was parked next to it.

Their newer Smeal ladder was in the shop, but the Slidell, LA, St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1, 1997 Smeal/Spartan with a 55' ladder look very nice. Not too many Smeals in this part of the country. Check out Luling, LA's Smeal ladder.

Soon to have a new cab, this 1990 Ford F-9000 is a 4000 gallon tanker used by the St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1. It is assigned to Station 7, the newest station in Slidell, LA. |

This is the second time I have come across a hydrant painted like a dalmation. The larger one has a sprinkler head on the top of the helmet and is used to water the grass at the station. |
