Fire Apparatus - Mississippi

Sadly, some of the trucks featured on the Mississippi page have been destroyed due to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Check out some of the equipment that came down after the hurricane to help out in the Hurricane Katrina folder.

A 1947 Ford pumper in Biloxi is seen here in front of the hard hit Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi during the St. Patrick's Day parade on Saturday, March 18, 2006.

Located on the Gulf of Mexico, the Biloxi Fire Department is the proud owner of this 1985 E-One equipped with a 95' ladder as seen here at headquarters just a block from the beach in Biloxi, Mississippi.

I was trying to get the possible last day of the Mississippi state flag in the picture when I photographed Ladder A-2, a 1996 105' E-One in Biloxi, Mississippi. Needless to say the vote the next day to change the flag as defeated.

Truck 1 is a 2006 E-One/Brontos with a 114' articulated ladder and it was recently placed in service with the Biloxi Fire Department. The truck is assigned to Central Station.

Engine 1 is a 1996 E-One and is seen here on Lemeuse St in downtown Biloxi, MS. This particular engine is unusual because it is a rear engine model.

Engine 4 is an E-One that was at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum on standby for a helicopter that landed there.

This 2005 E-One Typhoon belongs to the Biloxi FD and is seen here at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum and at US-90.

As promised, here is that shot of the 75' E-One ladder (L-1) of D'Iberville, MS. The area was flooded with almost 30' of tidal surge from Hurricane Katrina and the local fire departments had their hands full.

Engine 3 is a 1992 KME that belongs to the Gulfport (MS) FD and is seen here at its Pass Rd fire station that was damaged during hurricane Katrina.

Gulfport (MS) FD lost several stations during hurricane Katrina. Station 7 is seen in the background and was totally flushed clean of its contents as well as several of the walls. Engine 7 is now back on station beside its temporary housing until the fairly new station is rebuilt.

Tanker 11 is assigned to Station 11, north of the city of Gulfport, MS along with T-17. T-11 is a 1997 HME/GATCO tanker with a water capacity of 2500 gallons of water. The northern part of Gulfport is rural, thus the tankers. This tanker can also run as an engine when needed.

Engine 12 is a 1995 E-One ladder that runs as an engine for the Gulfport FD and the ladder is 50'.

Tanker 17 is assigned to Station 11 in north Gulfport, MS is is part of the city fire department. It was converted from a garbage truck into a tanker. This 1994 White/homebuilt is a one of a kind and only the second White fire truck I have come across.

A 1999 Ferrara/GMC T8500 with roll-up doors is used as Jackson FD's breathing air truck. The GMC has that European look to it.

This Freightliner van is the rescue truck for the Jackson FD. It's well equipped with Hurst tools and other rescue equipment.

The community of Pearlington, MS just received this donated 1982 Pierce/KW pumper from a FD in New York. It has already rolled on a house fire. Pearlington lost several tankers and their rescue equipment and this pumper was one of several pieces donated to the hurricane stricken fire company located near the Louisiana line and the Gulf of Mexico.

In bright red is this 1985 Oskosh P-19 belonging to Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi.

This 1995 E-One P-23 is the biggest that Keesler AFB has. Keesler is a training center for the Air Force as well as a weather squadron's home base.

A 1994 KME topside control looks very similar to the one assigned the the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. E-4 is one of two pumpers assigned to Keesler AFB.

Keesler AFB has a top notch water rescue team due to their location along the Gulf Coast. The rescue dive team is comprised of 12 certified master divers and they are qualified for open water, deep water, night dives, and rescue diving. This is their boat that is used for rescues.

Not ordering a 4x4, the firefighters were surprised when their new 2001 Pierce/Freightliner was delivered and its a 4x4. The P-30 is used for rescues on the base.

This is a 2003 or 2004 Ferrara Inferno of the Stennis Space Flight Center (NASA) located near the Louisiana/Mississippi line. The space flight center is located in Mississippi.

A brand new 2005 Pierce Sabre ladder truck is now assigned to the US Navy SeaBee base in Gulfport, MS.
