Global Warming is beneficial overall
Con
A. Con-proposition: Global Warming is harmful overall
Introduction: American.com states, “Today few scientists doubt the atmosphere is warming. Most also agree that the rate of heating is accelerating and that the consequences of this temperature change could become increasingly disruptive.”
B. Argument 1: Greenhouse Effect
Premise 1: The greenhouse effect is unquestionably real and helps to regulate the temperature of our planet. It is essential for life on Earth and is one of Earth's natural processes States the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Premise 2: Without a natural greenhouse effect, the temperature of the Earth would be about zero degrees F (-18°C) instead of its present 57°F (14°C).” says the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Premise 3: The union of concerned scientists says, ”Arctic ice pack has lost about 40% of its thickness over the past four decades; the global sea level is rising about three times faster over the past 100 years
Transition: “From sweltering heat to rising sea levels, global warming's effects have already begun,” Says the natural resources defense council.
C. Argument 2: Effects on Earth
Premise 1: The U.S. environmental protection agency states that, Rising global temperatures are expected to raise sea level, and change precipitation and other local climate conditions. Changing regional climate could alter forests, crop yields, and water supplies also Having flooding, farmers will have a hard time planting, they will have a shorter time to plant and grow crops and not be able to produce goods
Premise 2: It could also affect human health, animals, and many types of ecosystems. Deserts may expand into existing rangelands, and features of some of our National Parks may be permanently altered.
Premise 3: Scientific American says, “Floods and droughts associated with global climate change could undermine health in other ways as well. They could damage crops and make them vulnerable to infection and infestations by pests and choking weeds, thereby reducing food supplies and potentially contributing to malnutrition.
Transition: World Population Awareness says,” Across the country fields - where crops have been sown for generations - are being paved for suburbs and shopping malls.”
D. Argument 3: Effects on People and Population
Premise 1: Our world population is now at over 6 billion people and rising at over 6 people per second says, http://www.ibiblio.org/lunarbin/worldpop
Premise 2: In the year 2037 our world population will be over 10 billion, with the loss of land space due to rising sea levels we are bound for over crowding
Premise 3: People are going to become more irritable which will in turn cause our crime rate to increase.
Conclusion: Global Warming is beneficial overall. My answer to this is very easy, the long-term effects of global warming is defiantly harmful. Global warming is never a good thing. Especially by stating that the long term effects will not harm us. Global warming will have serious effects on our world and here I have proved that we will have a major problem facing us in the future.
