Sabrina is at working quietly typing away at her computer. She turns as she hears someone call her name. She goes over and picks up the phone.

[Sabrina talks on the phone.. slowly her face losses all expression. Her body trembles all over and her knees nearly fail her]

[The phone drops out of her hand and hits the ground. She races out as she nearly knocks over ZigZag]

[In an ambulance Miguel is being taken to the hospital. On the other side of town Sabrina drives like mad in the same direction]

[Sabrina gets to the hospital and stops at the desk and franticly talks to the nurse behind the counter. Then she turns and sees Miguel being rushed to surgery]

[Sabrina runs towards him but one of the doctors stops her. She tries to get past him but she can't. She watches shaking all over as nurses and equipment and rushed inside of the room.]

[ Finally Sabrina stops and the doctor walks into the room leaving her standing there silent.]

[Sabrina drops to her knees on the ground and breaks down crying]

[Inside Miguel is hooked up to machines. His oxygen mask splattered with blood from the inside. Blood drips on the floor as his vital signs begin to weaken]

[Sabrina sits trembling. In her hands is the gift Miguel have her. She rubs the inscription "Genuine" on it]

[Amy and Thomas arrive. Sabrina gets up and hugs Amy. Tear flow down her face she drops Miguel's gift. It hits the floor as the scene returns inside of surgery. The doctors stop working on Miguel.]

[Sabrina looks up from Amy's shoulder as she sees a doctor exit the room]

[She runs up to him as she notices the blood on his gown. Her heart sinks at the thought of it being Miguel's. He removes his mask and talks to her]

[Sabrina lowers her head and trembles as he walks away. Nurses leave the room and walk past her]

[Sabrina takes a deep breath and with her head hung down she walks towards Thomas and Amy]

[Thomas and Amy walk up to her and try to get her to speak]

[ Sabrina with tears in her eyes looks up at them]

Sabrina: He's going to be alright.

Amy and Thomas breath a sigh of relief and they embrace Sabrina. Deep inside Miguel however things aren't as happy. Miguel finds himself inside a dark cold place. In a corner he sees Cain sitting alone.

Cain:[without looking at him] That was a stupid thing you did Miguel.

Miguel:[stops in his tracks then approaches him] I had to do it.

Cain: Right.. see your life flash before your eyes when you got shot?

Miguel: You tell me.. showed me more of an event that might have happened if I died.[sits down next to him]

Cain: Or will happen.[snarls at him]

Miguel: Cain?[shakes his head] I'm the pessimist, NOT you. So what if it might happen, should I just die now and let her go on without me.

Cain:[looks away] Better than you going on without her.

Miguel:[smiles] Since when do you care what happens to me?

Cain:[snaps at him] I may grow strong off your pain.. but it effects me too. Go ahead and throw your life away while you can.. but my mind is made up. I know what I must do now.

Miguel: Cain? What are you going to do?

Cain:[grins] You'll just have to wait and see Miguel. Just remember, you brought this on yourself. You better go.. she's waiting for you.[Cain begins fading] Enjoy it while you can.. there are no more rules anymore.

Miguel sees a blinding light and suddenly he wakes up in a hospital bed. He Sabrina fast asleep on him. In her hand is the gift he gave her. Sabrina slowly opens her eyes and sees him.

Miguel:[softly] Sorry ..I had you..waiting gypsygal.

Sabrina says nothing. She just hugs him tightly as she sobs. Miguel weakly holds her.

Miguel:[winces] Sabrina.. you're.. hurting me.

Sabrina: (gasp) Oh sorry.[pulls away] I just.it's just……

Miguel: I know.[smiles] You best put that back on….. hate.. for you to..lose it.

Sabrina: [puts it on] Try not to talk.. you're very weak right now..you..you lost a lot of blood.

Miguel: Heh.Typical… I'd lose.. my head… if..it wasn't attached.

Sabrina:[makes a face] How can you joke?!

Miguel: I'm alive aren't I?.. If not..you're the prettiest angel I've ever seen.

Sabrina: [trembles then explodes] IF YOU EVER DIE ON ME.. I'll…..I'll..

Miguel: I don't plan to…..stinky.

Sabrina: [looks down then picks her head up] STINKY?!?!?

Miguel: [weak smile] Gotcha.

Sabrina: [exhales hard.. then smiles] Dummy.

Miguel: Least..I got you.. to.. stop…

Sabrina: [places her finger on his lips] Shhhhhh. I promise not to freak out anymore.. if you.. promise to rest.

Miguel:[makes a hurt face] I'm..I'm afraid to close my eyes really.

Sabrina: I'll stay here with you.[lays her head down next to him]

Miguel: [sighs and closes his eyes] And if you ..have to go..potty?

Sabrina:[opens an eye and smiles] There's a trashcan right here.

Miguel:[makes a horrid face them smiles] OW!! It even hurts to smile.

Sabrina: That's cause you don't practice.. your face is out of shape..now rest.

Miguel sighs and closes his eyes again. Sabrina listens and feels his breath on her head. She sighs and clings to him tightly.. but also as softly as she can. She had been through such an ordeal today. Her life almost ended.. when his almost did. Never before had she felt such an attachment to anyone. She picks her head up and kisses him on the lips. Outside Thomas and Amy peek in and close the door.

Thomas: Well I guess he's okay now. That's a relief. [looks at Amy] Hon? You okay?

Amy: [sobs looks up at him with her eyes filled with tears] Oh Thomas.

Thomas:[holds her] What's the matter?

Amy: Just I thought about… I..[shakes her head] I don't know what I'd ever do if anything would happen to you.

Thomas tries his best to comfort her. Then his mind too is filled with the idea of Amy dying..and his life without her. He shakes those thoughts out of his head.

Thomas: Amy? I know I'd be lost if anything happened to you. But the fact of the matter is.. nothing's happened.. we're here you and I. We got no control over what happens to us.. not really. But.. I have no plans on dying on you.. not anytime soon anyway.[Amy picks her head up and looks at him] I guess we just have to try our best to not think about it and live. If we worry about it.. all our lives.. we won't be able to live happy together. We got more important things to worry about.[places his hand on her stomach] Understand?

Amy:[smiles and wipes her eyes] Yes I do.

The scene fades and opens somewhere else. Sabrina walks up to a door and takes a deep breath and knocks. She feels a bit light headed but she shakes it off. The door opens and there stands Hilda Tigre.

Hilda: [frowns] What do you want?

Sabrina: I came to tell you..Miguel is in the hospital.

Hilda: WHAT?!!?[frantic] Why didn't anyone call me?!?!

Sabrina: I would have but I was with him the past few weeks..and I figured it be best if I came in person and tell you.[feels a bit flushed]

Hilda: MATT?!!? Come on we have to see your brother!!! [Glares at Sabrina] If you have anything to do with this…

Sabrina:[shrivels a bit] I…. I didn't.. he got shot and…[Hilda pushes past her and drags Matt off with her] Hey..wait I'll drive you.

Hilda:[turns and snaps at her] WHY?!?

Sabrina: Cause… you're frantic right now..shoot I almost crashed 8 times when I drove when I found out..Miguel would never forgive me if anything happened to you.

Hilda: Fine..I just want to know why you were called before me?

Sabrina doesn't answer she just trembles and opens the door to her car. Hilda glares at her and gets in. Matt gets in as Sabrina starts the car. She feels Hilda's angry stare burning away at her. She tries her best to block it out and drives off. Meanwhile, Miguel lays in his bed. He opens his eyes and sees Thomas sitting across from him.

Miguel: Great.. the wolves have come to eat the lame animal.

Thomas: You're hurt..so I'll let that pass.

Miguel: Yeah..don't make me get up.[makes a pain stricken face]

Thomas: Amy's getting something to eat and we finally got Sabrina to take a breather.. you don't have to pretend anymore.

Miguel: Sigh.

Thomas: How you feeling?

Miguel: Like someone tried to make me a new belly button.. on my chest.. only deeper.

Thomas: Yeah well.. next time you let the robber make off with the money okay?

Miguel: Wasn't that.. [tries to sit up]there was a little girl.. and geez.. I don't know. I felt so bad.. normally I wouldn't have cared..I would have tried anyway.. but when I was thinking about it…. Do you know what popped into my head?

Thomas: Sabrina?

Miguel: [nods] I couldn't do it cause I thought..if I die..I'll never see Sabrina again. I was actually scared.

Thomas: For the right reason Miguel.

Miguel: I guess.. but I got upset.. I mean what would Sabrina think if I didn't try to help that little girl. Never a win/ win situation.

Thomas:[thinks for a bit then raises his head] So..did you see you life flash before your eyes?

Miguel:[raises an eyebrow] No..I saw Sabrina with someone else. I don't know if it was what would have happened had I died or if it's something that might happen. But I don't care.. I try not to think about it..I want to focus on being happy with Sabrina.. and nothing else.

Thomas: Did you know who he was?

Miguel: Some guy she met on-line.[shakes his head] Thomas… your lucky. If you leave this world.. you have someone on the way to take your place..to live on in your place..[turns his head and his eyes well up with tears] I don't have that.

Thomas: Hey maybe someday you will.

Miguel: [narrows his eyes] Not bloody likely.

Thomas: Miguel.[shakes his head]

Suddenly the door bursts open and Hilda pops in and rushes to Miguel's side knocking Thomas over.

Hilda: Miguel are you alright?!?!? Are you in any pain?!?!? Oh my god Miguel speak to me!!!

Thomas: I'm sure[gets up] he would if you'd give him a chance.[notices Hilda is a panda] Oh.. you must be Miguel's mother?

Hilda:[looks him over] Hello Mike.

Miguel: Mom.. that's not Mike, that's my friend Thomas.

Hilda: Yeah whatever… Miguel what happened?!?!? That girl shot you didn't she?!?!

Sabrina:[pops her head in] NOW WAIT JUST A MINUTE!!

Thomas: Now I see Sabrina wasn't exaggerating about her.[Hilda glares at him] Um.. not that I'd..[sweating and backs off] know anything.. as a matter of fact don't anyone listen to me.

Matt steps out from behind Sabrina. He runs over to Miguel and hugs him. Sabrina walks over and pats him on the head. Hilda walks over and removes her hand from Matt's head.

Matt: Does it hurt big bwuder?

Miguel: Yeah.. but it's nothing I can't handle. You just learn from this and don't do anything dumb like me.

Hilda: I little late for that I'd say.[glares at Sabrina]

Thomas: Listen Mrs. Tigre.. I don't think you should talk about Sabrina that way.[Hilda glares at him in a way that makes his fur stand on end. He back off] Um.. I'm going to stay out of this.

Miguel: Mom… Sabrina had nothing to do with this okay?

Hilda: Why did you call her instead of me?![glares at Miguel]

Miguel: Yeah right mom…. I called her why I was being operated on..geez.

Hilda: THAT'S NOT FUNNY!!! [snaps at him] I worried about this all the time when your father was a policeman.. I don't need to worry about you this way either!![eyes well up with tears]

Sabrina: Mrs. Tigre.[looks down] I wanted to call you before..but Miguel told me not to..cause he didn't want you going crazy worrying about him. He didn't know I went to tell you today.

Hilda:[looks at Miguel] Why?

Miguel: Because you have enough problems with Matt okay, besides… I know for a fact you'd have killed yourself getting here, that and…[takes a deep breath] I didn't want you snapping at Sabrina the way you are right now.

Thomas: I should leave,[puts his hand on Matt's shoulder] come on Matt.. this is grown up stuff.

Matt: [shakes his head] I want to stay with Miguel!!

Miguel: I'll be okay Matt, go with Thomas.

Matt looks at Miguel then goes off with Thomas. As they exit Thomas lets out a sigh of relief.

Thomas: Man your mother speaks with large doses of poison in her words.

Matt:[smiles] She can make daddy cry.

Thomas: I'm starting to understand why Miguel has such a chipper disposition.

Amy: [walks in] Hello Thomas why are you..

Thomas: [Hugs her] Oh Amy it was horrible!!!

Amy: [looks at him then at Matt] You met Mrs. Tigre I take it.[Matt giggles and nods]

Thomas: She's not a woman.. she's a monster!!

Amy:[pats him on the back] There there now.

Miguel: All I ask is that you give her a chance.

Hilda: I don't have to..I know how she is and how she will be..she'll just break your heart Miguel. I'm your mother I know what's best for you.

Sabrina:[grimaces] I'm keeping quiet.

Hilda:[walks up to her] That so..well don't on my account..if you got something to say..spit it out!!

Both girls glare at each other as sparks of lightning travel between each other. Sabrina feels a slight throbbing in her head. Sabrina shakes it off and takes a deep breath then speaks.

Sabrina: [Hisses] You!!! I love Miguel..and nowadays the only reason I put up with you is cause I love him so much..I used to want to get in good with you…. But I know better. You'll never let me and him be together… so I stop..from here on in.. trying to win you over. You're not worth it..and you never will be. Putting up with you shows I love Miguel.. cause if it weren't for that ..[gets in Hilda's face] I'd deck you in the face and drop you like a bad habit!!!!!

Hilda backs off and is very surprised ,Miguel slowly sits up and is taken back. but the most surprised of the 3 is Sabrina. She takes a deep breath and places her hand on her chest as she reels at what she said.

Sabrina: I'm..I'm sorry.[lowers her head and shakes it] I .. didn't mean all that.

Hilda: [silent for a second] Sounds like you meant every word.[she pushes past Sabrina and exits]

Miguel: Aw crud, now my poor dad's going to have to deal with the aftermath of this.

Sabrina:[frantic] I didn't mean it Miguel I… [sits down in a chair] She pushed me.. I mean.. [sighs and her body slumps over] I try very hard Miguel.. but no matter what I do.. she hates me even more. I told her cause..I know she would have wanted to know you were in the hospital…. Shoot.. I can't even get on her good side by doing the right thing.

Miguel: Sabrina. [motions for her to come closer] Come here.

Sabrina looks down for a bit..then walks over and sits down on the bed with Miguel. Miguel holds her as Sabrina rests her head on him and sobs.

Miguel: I know you try sweetie.. I've seen you try many times. And that's all that needs to count. My mom has no reason to treat you the way she does.[Sabrina pulls away and looks at him] I love you…one day….we'll be married (I hope).. and "I'M" the one you have to live with..not her.. not my dad.. not even Matt(Aren't you glad) So who do you think matters most?

Sabrina: (sigh) I guess.[looks down]

Miguel: Oddly enough.. my mom told me that when I was younger..go figure?

Sabrina:[tilts her head] you mean she wasn't always like this?

Miguel:[shakes his head] No..I think it's time I leveled with you..and actually defended her. She saw me one time..after I had been walked all over and hurt by a girl. I was so grief stricken and upset..I wanted to die. I'm not fooling.. she saw me.. that way.. and it scared her..I guess it struck a chord with her.. and well…

Sabrina: She doesn't want you to be that way ever again.[continues to look down] Makes sense..I guess.

Miguel: Well that and you two are too much a like. That and she tells me.. "Doesn't that girl own a decent pair of pants?!?!?"

Sabrina:[raises an eyebrow] She keeps that up..and she'll see I'm wearing pants ..when I show her what I think of her!![eye twitches]

Miguel: Oh yeah..[rolls his eyes] you mooning my mom will really fix things between you two.

Sabrina:[chuckles] Bet it fix you right up.

Miguel: Heck no..I don't EVER want that end pointed at me.

Sabrina: Then be a good boy and lay back[lays him down] and get better fast.

Amy:[pops her head in] Um.. did something happen?

Sabrina: Why do you say that?[fluffs Miguel's pillow]

Amy: Well…for one thing Mrs. Tigre stormed off with what she thought was Matt in tow.[Matt walks out from behind her]

Miguel: [makes a face] Aw geez!!

Thomas: Mrs. Tigre could you stop for a second? My tail is starting to get friction burn.[Thomas is being dragged off by Hilda Tigre by the scruff of his neck]

Hilda: That girl won't get the best of me.. she'll see.

Amy:[runs off] I'll try and save Thomas.

Matt: [looks up at Sabrina] Ms. Sabrina ma'am, does this mean I get to marry Ms Amy Ma'am?

Sabrina:[kneels down] Probably..but Tabitha might have something to say about that…. And I don't think it would be pleasant.

Matt: Hooooboy.[lowers his head] I better go help Ms. Amy Ma'am.[runs off]

Miguel: ANYway.. weren't you suppose to be going home and getting some rest?

Sabrina's smile fades as she makes a face. Slowly she turns around and walks up to him.

Sabrina: Sorry..just..I had to tell her..you know I..

Miguel: Sabrina…… I know for a fact you haven't slept much.. nor eaten.. you need to get some rest mi amor, I mean it shows your stressed.

Sabrina: Yeah but..

Miguel: I mean.. isn't ZigZag a bit concerned about you missing so much work?

Sabrina:[lays her head down on him] Yeah.. and she threatened me with a good flogging when I get back.[looks up sweating] Sadly, I don't know if she REALLY means it or not. [lowers her head] But I can't rest.. things are a big mess..I need to fix things with your mom.

Miguel: That's no excuse.[strokes her head] if you do that..you'll NEVER sleep.

Sabrina: then I guess I'll never sleep.[picks her head up and holds his hand to her face] I have to try…or I won't be able to sleep.

Miguel: Sigh. You're too noble for your own good you know that?

Sabrina: Not really.. as far as I'm concerned.. she could take a flying leap off of the roof of the hospital… but this involves you so I can't exactly turn my back on this. [eyes open wide] Aw shoot..i forgot!!

Miguel: [concerned] What is it?

Suddenly the door burst open as groovy, Funky, Ebony and a few others rush in and hug him.

Groovy: MIGUEL!!![crying]

Funky:[hitting him] You stupid jerk..if you die I'm going to kill you!!

Ebony:[sweating and concerned] Um Guys..I don't think he can breath.

Sabrina: Um…. I told everyone at eMenagerie what happened.[scratches the back of her head sweating] um I can see your busy now..I best go..try and catch up with your mom. Bye.

Sabrina closes the door and leans against it and exhales deeply. She feels a bit dizzy but she shakes it off and heads off. There she sees Amy who is pretty much carrying Thomas. She runs past them and to the parking lot. A bit later she is at the doorstep again and knocks. She stand fidgeting as the door open. She steps back as Arturo steps out.

Sabrina: Um.. erm..[shakes] hello Mr. Tigre..is..is your wife home?

Arturo: [looks down at her] Yes….. I'm off to see Miguel.[walks past her]

Sabrina: Um so I just go in?[she sighs and holds her head]

Sabrina finally realizes Miguel was right.. all the worrying and stress was catching up with her. Her ears were ringing and her body felt heavy. On the trip here she nodded off at a stop sign. She needs to rest..but she forces herself inside. Her eyes have problem adjusting to the light but she sees Hilda. Matt sees her and with a worried look runs off. Hilda turns and sees Sabrina.. her face turns cold and bitter.

Hilda: What are YOU doing here?!?!

Sabrina: Mrs. Tigre..I came to..[wobbles a bit] apologize for everything that has happened.[Sabrina feels her own pulse in her head] I didn't mean for any of this to happen.

Hilda: I'm not so sure..I know for a fact you want me out of the picture so you can have Miguel all to yourself.!!

Sabrina: [teetering back and forth] No that's not true.[holds her head] I…

Hilda: Well you got what you wanted..I'm not going anywhere near the two of you, so go off and be happy.[Sabrina winces] He's all yours!![Sabrina trembles] I hope you feel proud of yourself.. you you.. you

Sabrina's head begins throbbing like mad.. she can barely hear Hilda anymore. Then a picture of a rubber band stretching is seen as it snaps. Sabrina opens her eyes and glares at Hilda.

Sabrina:[with fire in her eyes] You..asked….for…it!!!

The scene cuts away to Sabrina's apartment where Amy is putting a cold wet cloth on Thomas head when Sabrina rushes in and slams the door behind her. She is white as a ghost and is breathing very hard.

Amy: Hey Sabrina.. you okay?[walks over to her]

Sabrina:[tears form in her eyes] I..I.. lost it. I.. I..[her whole body trembles].. I skunked Mrs. Tigre.

Amy : WHAT?!?!??!

Thomas: [walks by and places his wet cloth on Sabrina's head] I think you need this more than I do right now.
