Dream Music

Catherine gazed out over the park. It had been two weeks since she had seen him. Two lousy, lonely weeks that seemed like an eternity. Although she knew that he was probably busy far below, she couldn’t help but miss him. Vincent had come by less often of late, and she knew that he was once again trying to distance himself from her.

She sighed as she returned to her apartment. Would this cycle never end? Perhaps, but would either of them live through it? She didn’t know. All she did know was that with each passing day, her pain grew.

Hoping to bury her sorrow in music, she searched her CD collection. Finding one she hadn’t listened to in a long time, she put in the player and pressed PLAY. When the music began, she smiled at the energetic beat. Perfect, she thought, this is just what I needed.

As the music played, Catherine moved about the room, trying to decide what to do with a whole Saturday to herself. The apartment was as clean as it possibly could be (cleaning was a great distraction to turbulant emotions), so that was out of the question. Perhaps a book, something different to go along with the music. After making her selection, she sat down on one of the dinky couches and settled in for a while.

Yes we all know the facts: Catherine and Vincent were lovers of classical music. But hold on a second, Catherine is a woman of many tastes. So we cannot really say that that’s all she listened to. Even in one of the many fan fic’s that I’ve read, it stated that both she and Vincent were fans of Bruce Springstien (forgive the spelling if it is in error). Of course they appreciated music of all sorts (although I just cannot see them appreciating any form of rap). So here is a list of music that I think would’ve fit right in with the series if they had continued it, and some that would’ve fit in with seasons 1 and 2.

  1. Pat Benatar: “We Belong”
(Catherine always thought that they belonged together, no matter what Vincent thought.)
  2. Pat Benatar: “Shadows of the Night”
(Hmmmm, do I have to explain this one?)
  3. Meatloaf: “I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)”
(In the beginning of the series, Father had a very strong opinion that Catherine would eventually turn away from Vincent, but she never did.)
  4. Creed: “With Arms Wide Open”
(Let me think, with Vincent learning about Catherine’s pregnancy, he probably thought, “If I had just one wish, Only one demand, I hope he’s not like me, I hope he understands, That he can take this life, And hold it by the hand, And he can greet the world, With Arms Wide Open…”)
  5. Bon Jovi: “It’s My Life!”
(Vincent always tried to control Catherine’s life by “trying” to set her “free”, and sometimes Catherine would want to scream “IT’S MY LIFE!”)
  6. Almost everything by N*SYNC or Backstreet Boys
    (umm…DUH!)
  7. Lee Anne Wolemak: “I Hope You Dance”
(In a sense, everything Catherine always wanted for Vincent. “…Livin might mean taken chances, but their worth taken, Loven’ might be a mistake, but its worth maken…”)
  8. Heart: "Alone"
(The story of Catherine in a song "...Til now I always got by on my own, I never really cared until I met you, and now it chills me to the bone, How do I get you alone?...")
  9. Celine Dion: "Nature Boy"
(This song is classic BatB all the way. And I don't just mean our Vincent and Catherine... "...The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to be loved and be loved in return.")
  10. Celine Dion: "Rain, Tax (It's Inevitable)
(All of us that are season 1 & 2 'Helpers' all believe that the eventual uniting of Vincent and Catherine's worlds was inevitable. "...Like rain, tax; After lightning the thunder cracks (its inevitable); Sooner or later it had to come true...")
