«The Lost Souls:.: Shinigami» The Shinigami are said to be the messangers of death,kind of the Grim Reaper...but in a Japanese way.The reason after death,some humans become shinigami, is because they have commited suicide in their past life on earth.Their main duty is to retrieve the souls of humans who are suppose to die.That is the human's fate...and the Shinigami's punishment.There are three Shinigami that we know most about in the series. Takuto, Meroko, and Izumi...Plus one ghost,Jonathan.Though really zero information is on Jonathan. BELOW ARE SPOILERS,READ ANY INFORMATION AFTER THIS,AND YOU WILL KNOW ALOT OF SPOILERS.I SUGGEST READ THE ACTUAL MANGA

Well,Let's start with Kira Takuto.Takuto is a young half Shinigami who takes an important role in Mitsuki's life. At first Mitsuki and
Takuto seem to just be friends...like Takuto being an older brother type character.But, it soon evolves into love.
Yui Meroko.She is a more experienced Shinigami,and older then Takuto.But certainly not mature. Meroko has a tendency to fall in love easily, and confess at least sixty times to the one she loves. In the anime series,nothing is known about Meroko's human life.But,in the manga..Meroko was said to be Mitsuki's grandmother's best friend,Rikyou Moe.Moe commited suicide because she thought that Mitsuki's grandmother had married Seijyuurou-san,a man whom Moe was in love with.But,there was a whole mixup.
Fuzuki (Mitsuki's grandmother) hadn't married Seijyuurou,Seijyuurou was part of Mitsuki's father's side. Fuzuki and Seijyuurou are both Mitsuki's grandparents,but no actual marriage or blood relation was involved.
Meroko also has another 'past'.Her past with Izumi,the other Shinigami.Izumi and her were both 'partners in crime',so to say.Meroko
was obbsessed with Izumi,as much as she is with Takuto,now!
Izumi was much more non-respondant to Meroko's feelings that Takuto is,Izumi just thought she was plain annoying.But for some
reason,he took it to the next level and kissed her.Still,he didn't want to be with her anymore. He disbanned 'Mi rui Meiku'...leaving Meroko and the new Shinigami,Takuto, to be in 'Negi Ramen'
Rio Izumi.Izumi is a cold-silent type.He doesn't like to talk much about anything,except his duties.In the anime,Izumi is put on as the
'bad guy' character.But, in the manga..Izumi is really a lost soul.Lio is Izumi's real name.Lio was a confused child with a horrible homelife,who ran into ongoing train tracks[That's the reason why his clothes are black and yellow]..and wanted to end his pain.But,his pain was never really ended.
