Class Descriptions

Lyrical Hip Hop

Taking movements from the contemporary and street dance techniques, this style works with the lyrics of the song rather than the beat of the music,
creating an imaginative story telling art form.

ANSD Troupe Training

This class trains Pupils to compete and perform in Competitions Show and Festivals throughout the North East of England. Not open to the public.

Members must be invited into this Troupe.

Hip Hop

Hip-hop is a dance style, usually danced to hip-hop music, that evolved from the hip-hop culture.

Urban Street Vibe

This class combines all the fundamentals of Street Dance, such as Hip Hop, Breakdance, Popping, Locking, Waving, Sliding etc, to create the ultimate Urban Street Vibe. Ideal for all ages and abilities, this class may also be used as preparation for pure classes such as Breakdance, Acro Breakin' and/or Street Flava / Street Fusion.

Break-Dance

Breakdancing, also known as "B-boying" or "B-girling" by its practitioners and followers, is a dynamic style of dance that is part of Hip Hop culture and emerged out of the Hip-Hop movement in the South Bronx of New York City during the late 20th century. Breakdancing is one of the many elements of Hip Hop culture. The unique form of dancing is very acrobatic and creative. Breakdance has been performed in countless shows, music videos on MTV and at dance clubs. A VERY impressive dance style.

Street Flava

This flava'some Street Class uses a mixture of R'n'B and Hip Hop music, and interprets it in a modern and fashionable way, fusing Hip Hop and feminine movements.

This class is perfect for the aspiring Street Dancer, with moves which won't fail to impress even the fiercest of Club Dancers. 

Contemporary

Uses dance techniques and methods found in ballet, modern dance and postmodern dance, and it also draws from other philosophies of movement that are outside the realm of classical dance technique.

Contemporary dance employs many modern dance techniques such as contact-release, fall and recovery, floor work, improvisation, and lifts in partnering.

Tap

A style in which the rhythm is sounded out by the clicking taps on the heels and toes of a dancers shoes. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers are typically associated with this style of dance, although more modern groups such as the Tap Dogs have re-vamped this traditional style of dance.

Ballroom, Latin & Salsa

Ballroom consists of any of the various social dances, such as the Fox Trot, Tango, or Waltz, in which couples follow a conventional pattern of steps.

Latin American dances consists of : Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble, & Jive.

Compared to typical ballroom dances, Latin dances are generally faster-paced, more sensual, and have more rhythmic expression.

No partner is required for this course or class, solos or couples are welcome.

Street Stylez

Street Stylez is a Fun, Funky and Energetic Street Dance class for Children,

this class covers moves and styles you would see in all the latest music videos out there today.

Acro Breakin'

This class has been specifically designed by the Amanda Nicole School of Dance, to promote Acrobatic Breakdance. Gymnastic and acrobatic training is involved to enhance aerial movements and freezes, whilst working towards power orientated moves like flares, windmills etc. This class is perfect for the adventurous and fun loving and also works perfectly in tandem with Breakdance and Urban Street Vibe.

Uni-Ted Movement

A class for children designed to develop speech, co-ordination and rhythm. This is the starting point for any young aspiring dancer, in a relaxed, safe and comfortable environment, here children are nurtured and prepared for more specific dance styles, such as Ballet, Tap, Freestyle, Street Cheer, Street and Line Dance. Come and join the fun! 

Freestyle Disco

Freestyle is a very fast paced energetic style of dance, performed to fast paced pop and dance music. Don't be fooled by the name, John Travolta is no where to be seen!. For two decades this style has been at the forefront of Popular Dance, combining style, grace and energy to create an intensely fulfilling performance based workout. Street Dance wouldn't be what it is today without Freestyle Disco!

Show Stoppers

Our Christmas Show Crew!, this class is only open to students already attending classes at the Amanda Nicole School of Dance. Running throughout the year, consisting of drama, singing and various dance styles, these students take the leading roles in our annual production.

Urban Street Cheer

Fusing Cheerleading, Street Dance and Urban styles, this class promises to excite and enthuse all age groups, a very lively, energetic class

Ballet

A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement and by elaborate formal gestures, steps, and poses.
