“All thanks to your slam dunk alarm clock.” he shrugged, recalling the previous afternoon when he barged into her room at the wrong time, resulting in an attack from her. Grateful that she had forgiven him, he saw no point of bringing up that awkward incident.
“Serves you right.” shot back childishly. “Did I really hit that hard?” she cocked an eyebrow, feeling a little blameworthy for her over-reaction.
“Nah..Forget it. I will be fine in a few days time. ” he shoved off the topic. “Guess I just got to stay clear of high-voltage and I will be safe. Isn’t it?” he winked mischievously.
“Behind that angelic face is a devil’s snarl.” Sylvester, who had forgotten the ‘Don’t mess with ’ rule was once again tempted to tease her.
“But I don’t do hideous stuffs. I only make righteous troubles.” she corrected at once and shot Sylvester a furious glare the moment she caught him rolled his eyes. Righteous troubles? What on earth is that? He pondered, not intending to ask since she was angry.
“Okay okay. You win.” he surrendered with his hands up in the air, “Come on Miss ,” he purposely spoke in a polite manner. “We would be late if we don’t hurry.” Knowing someone like had taught Sylvester not to be too casual with his words. wasn’t that kind who welcomes jokes. He wouldn’t want another bruise again.
“Sylvester! SYLVESTER! SYLVESTEEEER!” A group of girls screamed their lungs out when they bumped into him at the corridor. They went crazy with excitement upon the sight of him. Ever since that David De Cruz incident, Sylvester had became the hot topic of the campus. Many girls adored him to the core.
“Oh God, help me .” his face turned pastel with panic as the group of girls rushed to their direction. “I can’t stand this.”
“Have fun signing autographs.” smirked and dashed towards the other direction.
“Hey!” Sylvester called out, wanting to catch up but was stopped by the girls. They rushed up to him like bees, surrounding him.
“Sly! Sly!” some exclaimed in unison while others shoved him a book and pen, “Can I have your autograph?”
“Hold on!” he yelled out, keeping hard to maintain the order. He was being pushed around aimlessly as the girls circled him. “Queue up please. Come on!”
But all proved to naught. Sylvester’s shouts were effortlessly swallowed by the girls’ thrilled roars. They continued pushing each other to get near him that they neglected his safety.
“Ah! My hair!” he yelled with shock when some go to the extent of grabbing his hair just to get him. “Hey! I just dyed back to black last night! Don’t spoil it! Gatsby product aren’t cheap!”
::::
“Looks like you’ve got more admirers added to the list.” commented bitterly the moment Sylvester entered the class and walked to his desk.. She didn’t want to mark him an impression that she was complimenting him. The room was starting to fill with students streaming in and the noise level grew.
“Its just signing a few autographs.” Sylvester explained, ruffling his now-messy hair to keep it neat. “At the rate those girls are pulling my hair, I guess I will go bald sooner or later.”
“They want to know more about you.” corrected, slamming her books on the desk. Her usual fiery temper still caught some nearby classmates off-guard, making them bolted with fright at the sudden loud bang.
“Are you jealous?” Sylvester shot that question and immediately, he regretted it. For the fourth time of the morning, he succeeded in irritating ’s antagonistic temper.
“Honestly Mr. Sim Siang Long.” she crossed her arms, wanting to smack that self-aggrandizing-looking face of his. “Whoever falls in love with you should get their eyes checked.”
“Hey! Don’t call me by my Chinese name! I hate it!” he fumed like a kid.
“Then you stop disturbing me in the first place!” countered with annoyance.
::::::
“Oh my God.” Sylvester rolled his eyes. “Here they are again.” he flinched when another group of girls waited outside the class for him. The bell rang, signaling the end of the last lesson.
“Sylvester! SYLVESTEEEER!!” They shrieked madly with joy the moment he walked out of class.
“I will wait for you at the school park.” grumbled and stalked off. She needed to get herself out of the situation. She wouldn’t want to be trampled by those girls.
:::::::::
Sitting alone in the park of the school, fished out her phone, playing its games. She was engrossed in her own world when suddenly a voice snapped her back to reality. Before she could respond, someone had taken the empty seat beside her.
“What the hell are you doing here?” she demanded rudely when she realized that it was David De Cruz.
“Come on . Be nice.” he smiled in a pleasant manner. Yet, she could tell his purpose of presence must be nothing beyond unfriendly.
“What do you want?” she questioned, inching away from him.
“Look, I’m sorry for the other day. I know my mistake.” he smiled, shifting himself closer to her. “Can I have a chance to make it up? What about a movie tonight?” Behind that genuine smile of his was actually a devil playing games. He hated . He ostracized her for humiliating him in front of the school.
David De Cruz’s main motive for the date was actually a plan of revenge… to let her fall in love with his charms. Then, he would break his heart. It just wasn’t him to let bygones by bygones.
“Get someone else. I don’t want to waste my time.” grunted unappreciatively. “You make me feel like vomiting. Leave me alone.” Not allowing herself to hear another word from this irritating ass, she rose from the bench and stalked towards the school compound.
David De Cruz’s face turned astringent with rage. He dashed towards her and pulled her back by her arm. “What do you mean by this? Think you can go off after offending me?” he snarled.
“Get away!” squealed, squirming hard to get out of his grip. “Ouch! You’re hurting me!”
“Let her go!” a voice shouted.
“Sly!” rippled with relief, glad to see him. He rushed to her rescue and yanked David’s grip off her. A little afraid, scampered and hid behind him.
“Its you again.” David made a sigh that held all exasperation in the whole. “Fu*k!”
Sylvester was too hot minded upon the sight of guys bullying girls. He hated non-gentlemen. Once again, he grabbed David’s wrist hard and thrust him onto the ground with a loud bump.
“OW!!” David De Cruz yelled at the excruciating impact as his back hit the concrete pavement. “Basta*d! I didn’t start any fight! Did I!” Truthfully speaking, he was somewhat terrified by Sylvester. He actually wanted to escape but Sylvester was too fast for him.
“Let me tell you.” Sylvester warned, stomping one of his legs against David’s chest to prevent him from getting up. “Don’t your dirty hands dare touch her and leave her alone.” He glared down harshly at David.
“Let’s go home.” Sylvester then turned to , looking at her with a gentler gaze.
“Okay.” she nodded, appreciative for his help this time round. As she passed by the David who was slumping on the ground, she delivered a hard kick to his butt. He let out a yelp of pain.
“You honestly, truly, madly deserve it.” tossed him a cheeky face and stuck out her tongue.
