That feeling was weird. That sensation of butterflies flying in her stomach and tightness in her throat still lingered in . That kiss… it seems so real, she thought, touching her lips. Duh! Its real! Till now, her cheeks were still burning red. But she rather believed she was angry than anything else.
That night, locked herself in her room, not giving a single damn at her flour-covered body nor the mess in the kitchen. The hours ticked by slowly like unbearable days. She couldn’t sleep. Images of their kiss flashed repeatedly in her vexed mind like a movie clip.
The next morning, prepared for school an hour earlier. She didn’t want to see Sylvester nor did she want to talk to him. Before dawn, she had already set off from home. The street was still dark and the moisten grass levitated the coldness of the surroundings.
But fate got the better of her. When she reached the bus stop, she was stunned to see him sitting there. Her emotions froze and her mind suffered from a serious brain-fart. Their gaze met and it was electrifying. For the first time in life, didn’t know that his gaze could make her heart dashed a mile per minute.
“Hi.” he grinned uncomfortably, standing up. Just like her, he had left home early to prevent any awkward encounter with her. But still, destiny had its trick on them.
“Morning.” forced a smile which looked like she had got her fingers stuck in a mouse trap. They stood facing each other with a distance apart. The atmosphere was so gauche thought she would rather pull out her toenails than to see his face.
Sylvester grinned at her in an embarrassed manner. “Eh..” he scratched his head, searching for something to say. God damn shit. Nothing logical went through his mind. Like a moron, he stood stiffly on his spot, shifting his weight from one leg to another.
Fortunately, the bus driver swooshed in time to save them from drowning in the sea of discomfiture. As predicted, the bus ride to school was a quiet one. No chatting. No bickering. No catfight. Just silence.

It had been raining cats and dogs for the past few days caught a chill. She thought she would fall sick any moment. In the end, she really did. Her fever resulted in one terrible illness -- Chicken Pox.
“Get lost!” yelled in her croaky voice and kicked her legs. Despite her deteriorating body and giddy mind, she was still as irritable as ever. “I don’t need your sympathy.”
“I’m taking you to a doctor.” Sylvester declared bluntly. Inside him he was worried sick for her health. Those tiny red spots on her face and arms simply create an urge in him to take care of her.
“I don’t want doctors!” shut her ears with her hands, ranting like a spoilt child, “They are not reliable! I don’t want jabs!”
“You are going there. Chicken pox is not a joke.” Sylvester emphasized, showing no signs of giving in. She screamed and flustered off the bed, scampering to the door for an escape but he caught hold of her in time.
“Let me go!” screeched, hitting his chest furiously. She squirmed to get out of his strong embrace but to no avail. Her failing health and dizziness was weighing her down. Couldn’t be bothered by her fuming shouts, Sylvester flipped her body over his shoulders and walked out of the room.
“You f*ck!” she cried out like a little kid, “I hate doctors! They are demons who torture patients! And they demand money just because they have that pair of so-called healing hands!” Legs weak, head spinning, ’s brain was unable to function properly she had no idea what she was talking.
Paying no attention to her cries, Sylvester hailed for a cab at the roadside as he carried her over his shoulders.

“Aww..” moaned, her hair in terrible mess as Sylvester laid her on her bed. “That injection su*ks. My butt is so pain now.” she whined on and on, recapturing every event that happened at the clinic. “Its all your fault! And to think that nurse mistook you as my boyfriend. Eeks.” Her face squeezed in repugnance. “This is impossible in my life.”
Sylvester watched with mild amusement as he sat at the edge of the bed, half-listening to her load of immature complains. “Didn’t the doctor tell you to relax before she gave you that jab?” he retaliated contemptuously, “You should be blamed for not listening.”
“Hey dude!” she raised her voice, clearly offended. “How the hell do you expect me to relax when I'm butt nude, trembling in the cold and waiting for a sharp needle in the cheek of my ass?”
“All right. Just have a rest.” Sylvester cut her off, tired of arguing with her. He then motioned for to her lie back and pulled the cover over her so she wouldn’t feel cold. “I will wake you up when its medicine time again.”
“Give me a break. No more pills please. I want to sleep.” retorted loudly as she turned to the opposite side.
“Oh man, you have two weeks of medical leave to rest. You can sleep till you rot.” he said, “No arguments, you will take your medicine after every meals.”
“Hey Nurse Sim! This isn’t the way to treat a patient!” grunted.
“Who says I’m your nurse?” he shot back cheekily and dashed out of the room before a pillow comes flying at his face.
When Sylvester returned to the room several moments later, was already sleeping peacefully like a log. A smile of comfort formed on his face as he brushed her fringe to the side.
“Sweet dreams.” he muttered with a smile and left the room, softly closing the door behind him.
Chicken Pox. It wasn’t that bad after all. For it managed to solve the awkwardness between them and brought their relationship to another level.
