..* True To My Heart..

:: Chp 13: Signs of Love ::

In the end, instead of staying overseas for a week, Florence prolonged her trip to a month. She called Sylvester, explaining that her husband Dick Lee, and her son couldn’t bear to part with her. This meant Sylvester and were left alone in the big house for a full 30 days.

Under the meticulous care of Sylvester, gradually recovered from her chicken pox. These two weeks in bed had allowed her to see the different side of Sylvester. She didn’t know guys could be so caring and thoughtful. He was the one who helped her take notes during lectures and brought her homework home. He was the one who cooked her porridge and settled all the household chores.

Despite the fact this lad could get pretty irritating at times, was thankful to him. As result, that feeling of merely friendship soared and blended into something more. wasn’t sure at all how she felt about Sylvester now. Just like how she had no clue of his feelings towards her. Did he treat her just like a sister? Or they were simply friends and nothing more than that?

Everything she sees him, there seemed to be more butterflies flying in her stomach.

Tossing all confusions aside, grabbed the nicest piece of clothes from her wardrobe. She wanted to look pretty on her first day of chicken pox recovery. Today, she had bugged Sylvester to bring her for a food feast. Though there were still many things couldn’t eat, she was insistent on going. Chilling her butt at home any longer would only drive her mad.

::::::::

“Yay! Yay! Food feast!” exclaimed, flapping her hands happily. Sylvester and her entered a buffet restaurant. The place was packed with people but nevertheless, Sylvester had long ago called up to book a table. During the time when was sick, he once promised her a treat.

filled her plate with all types of cuisines and settled down to start her meal. “Yum!” she complimented, munching her fish & chips merrily. Sylvester smiled, somewhat infected by her jollity.

“What are you laughing at?” she stopped her food and shot him a bewildered frown. He merely flashed her a lopsided grin.

“Mayonnaise on you lips.” he suppressed a laugh. With a hankie, he wiped the sauce off from ’s mouth. God, an abrupt hotness blazed pass her cheeks. All of a sudden her heart was battling out of control. Why was this happening to her nowadays, especially when Sylvester was so near her?

“Woah.. Look who we have here.. A new couple?” a voice disrupted their moment. They looked up, only to see that irksome fellow with that scornful leer.

“Bastard David De Cruz.” cursed with frustration, “What a tragic coincidence.” Tossing her another nasty snarl, David walked pass their table.

But he wasn’t going to let them off with no trouble. As he passed , he let the cup of juice he was holding sailed from his grasp. With pleasure, he watched the liquid leap out and landed all over her white blouse. screamed in shock, assembling loads of attention from other diners.

“Oops. I’m sorry.” David snickered, carrying a tinge of cynicism in his fake apology. It was apparent he poured juice on her on purpose. In addition, he did that obvious enough for everyone to know it was an intentional one.

That familiar feeling was driving ’s nerves mad. That sudden urge to beat the crap out of someone was so severe that she couldn’t manage her hostility. She shifted her gaze to Sylvester, who had already plugged off from his chair. With an irate look, he stormed to David De Cruz and grabbed him by his collar. ’s infuriated face transformed into an expression of fret.

“Sly!” exclaimed, startled he might do rash things again. Sylvester was an impulsive person. Once he gets really enraged, nothing could stop him.

“Want to hit me?” David challenge coolly with a sneer, “There are many pair of eyes here. Beware of what you do dude.” he made a cunning hoot.

scurried beind Sylvester, nudging his elbow. “Cool it down.” she murmured under her breath, “This guy isn’t worth it. I don’t want you in trouble.” At once, that harsh insolent set of his face softened. Inside him, Sylvester was actually glad to hear ’s concern for him.

“You’re not worth it.” Sylvester said it directly at David’s cocky face, “I don’t wish to dirty my hand again.” he let go of his grip on him.

“That’s better.” David silently applauded with triumph. As nasty and as boastful as possible, he swept the imaginary dust off his clothes. He whipped around and was about to walk away when Sylvester called out.

“This isn’t the end Mr. Cocky.” he proclaimed coolly. David turned around and cast him another annoyed glower. That sudden sly smirk on Sylvester’s face was something he couldn’t comprehend. looked at both guys, preparing the worst. Bingo, nothing could really stop Sylvester.

As fast as he could do anything, Sylvester grabbed his glass of juice on the table and flung its contents at David’s direction. The juice splashed out and landed all over David’s clothes. David was so fury with wrath wanted to laugh.

“Stop it.” Sylvester warned with a finer when David was about to strike.

“Or we can sue you for assault.” completed his sentence, taking a bold step beside Sylvester. The duo exchanged glances and grinned happily.

“Well, at least you apologized to me for your so-called unintentional act.” grunted mockingly. “But Sylvester won’t apologize. Because he splashed juice at you on purpose.”

“Son of the bit*hes.” David clenched his fists, fighting to summon his dissatisfaction under control. “You will pay for this.”

“Be our guest then.” Sylvester challenged unperturbedly. “That is, if you get drowned by the juice.” The masses of diners laughed and made general noises of agreement. Sometimes, it seemed cool to have supportive audiences.

Sylvester didn’t bother to look like he cared. He didn’t care at all. Losing all mood to continue their meals, the both of them walked out of the place, bringing with them fruits of victory.

:::::

“But that doesn’t mean I’m not angry with you!” grumbled as they walked down the streets. “Sly, you didn’t hit him but you should not have splash him with juice. What if his sidekicks were there? We’d be doomed!” Grudgingly, she licked her cone of ice-cream, savoring its chocolaty taste.

“You‘re worrying too much Miss. Paranoid.” Sylvester remarked with a grin. “Even if they comes, I would make sure no one lays a finger on you.”

Hell no, he was making her blush again. “Really?” she choked out, glancing away. He nodded positively, unaware of her jitteriness.

“Still, I’m angry!” nagged to ease her nerves.

“Come on,” Sylvester urged, Just take a deep breath and everything will be fine. It harms your health to be angry.”

watched him walked away, seemingly ignorant that she had stopped in her tracks. A crafty grin spread over her face as mischief crept up. Like a leopard, she sprinted towards Sylvester and pounced herself on his back, catching him off-guard. He let out a yelp of shock.

Paying no attention to his shouts, she sank her teeth against his skin, biting his arm. She hanged there for a few goody seconds. “! What the hell are you doing!” he yelled, shaking her off but she just wouldn’t budge. ’s bite wasn’t strong but that didn’t mean Sylvester was feeling painless. From a third person view, they resembled a naughty kid being piggy-backed by an mad donkey.

When she eventually let go and got off from him, his arm was already throbbing from her bite. “Just what’s wrong with you?” he questioned irritably, rubbing his arm.

“Releasing my anger.” she shrugged in a snooty way, licking her ice-cream cone. Sylvester was a gentleman. Because of that, was assured he wouldn’t get fussy over this trivial matter. But she had forgotten the fact that guys occasionally suffer from PMS too.

Infected by her contagious mischief, Sylvester playfully snatched her ice cream away.

“Hey! It’s mine!” she demanded, sticking out a hand. “Return it to me!”

“Sure.” Sylvester smirked, ready to play the bad boy. Without uncertainty, he teasingly chucked the dessert at her face.

“SYLVESTER SIM!” shrieked as the chilliness of the chocolate cream streaked her face. He was already running down the streets, laughing his heart out. Like a toddler, she gave chase.

“Stop there!” she yelled, racing behind him.

“You cannot catch me!” he chanted.

In the midst of the dead afternoon streets, the atmosphere was lightened up upon their shouts as their laugher filled the whole place with life.
