So this was how the start of the following month went... It was exactly 20 days after Sylvester’s discharge from the hospital…
It was a Saturday morning, no school, no homework. How great. Although sunshine had already filled in the room, was still tucked under her comforter, enjoying her beauty sleep.
The alarm clock at her bedside rang but she was too pissed off to wake up. In annoyance she smacked it silent and drift off to dreamland again, with her head under the pillow.
“Lazy bum.” Sylvester called out from outside, knocking at her door. “Its time to wake up.”
No response.
“I’m coming in.” he announced loudly and entered the room. There he spotted her still resting on the bed like a lazy pig. Sylvester knew it was impossible to wake a deep sleeper like . He grinned mischievously, an idea cooking up in his cranky mind.
He left the room and returned with his electric guitar several moments later. As silent as a mouse he pluck the guitar to the switch and on it. Laughing with madness, he envisioned the petrified he would see in a few seconds time.
“IT’S MY LIFE!” He started screaming the song on the top of his lungs, “ITS NOW OR NEVER! I AIN’T GONNA LIVE FOREVER!” Strumming the guitar frenetically and shaking his head like an insane rocker was all he required to spank from peacefulness.
“SHUT UP!” yelled, perceptibly startled by the thundering music. Fuming with irritation, she flung a pillow directly at his face. He dodged it fast and the pillow went hitting the framed jigsaw on the wall, slanting it.
“Hey lass! Beware!” he warned jokingly, saving the puzzle before it dropped to the floor. “You won’t want to spend time piecing them again.”
“Then you just get out of my room!” she argued, sitting up on bed, her hair in a chaotic mess. “For goodness sake it’s a weekend morning! I need some sleep!”
“What!” Sylvester jerked back, stunned by her senseless reply. “Its Taufik’s wedding today! We are going to be late!”
Everything hit straight away, snapping her mind and body to one piece. “Shoot! I forgot about it!” she shouted in shock. “Oh my God I’m going to be late!” she scurried off the bed and sprinted out of the room, her footsteps rumbling along the hallway.

The Muslim marriage is a majestic affair. The bride and groom are treated as "king and queen for a day". The marriage ceremony was held downstairs Taufik’s flat. In front of a small decorated stage were rows of garlanded long tables and chairs.
Taufik was a popular police officer at the west area of Singapore. Many respected his righteousness and adored his friendliness. Lots of people were invited to attend this simple yet grand wedding.
“Wow! First time I’m attending a Muslim wedding.” Sylvester complimented as he looked around the place in awe. “Its so special and nice. Very different from those weddings in churches and restaurants.”
“Stop being a mountain tortoise.” grunted. “It’s all your fault of staying overseas for the past years of your life.” She looked around the crowd of people, trying to spot Taufik and his bride.
On the small stage was a band playing songs with their traditional instruments. The atmosphere was wonderful, enriched with the bliss of happiness. Finally, the duo were ushered to a table by two of Taufik’s family members.
“The bridegroom and his bride will only turn up once the ceremony begins.” a Malay lady in her mid-forties explained to Sylvester and .
“This is so grand. Look! There are so many people here to witness Taufik’s wedding!” commented gladly. “It’s such a blessing for them!”
“Fret not.” Sylvester replied nonchalantly, helping himself with the drinks on the table. “Our wedding in future will definitely have more people than his.” Immediately, ’s face flushed with hotness of red. He slanted his eyes to her direction and grinned. God, he loved seeing her blush.
Soon, more people streamed in and the noise elevated from the crowd. Many were happily exchanging casual conversations while some are busy enjoying their food. Sylvester munched onto the food, enjoying its taste. “Delicious!” he praised fervently. “I never know Muslim food are so scrumptious! I love this chicken curry rice!”
Soon, the formal ceremony begin. Everyone had their attention glued to the stage as Taufik stepped up. He looked exceptionally stunning with his bridegroom set of clothes. That look of anticipation sparkled in his eyes as his beautiful wife, Leandra, walked up the stage from the opposite side. She was accompanied by a maiden.
“I do I do!” Taufik shouted enthusiastically, bobbing up and down on the balls of his feet. The audience exploded with hilarious laughter.
“What do he think he’s doing?” Sylvester laughed from his seat. “This is not a church wedding.”
“I guess he watched too much American series.” added, unable to control her laughter. Taufik signaled a gesture of apology to everyone, awkward by his jumpiness. “I’m sorry. I’m damn nervous now lah. You guys will know if you become a bridegroom someday.”
Leandra, the beautiful bride blushed, a smile of happiness evident on her face. After the ceremony and sharing their sweetest moment of a kiss, they were truly proclaimed husband and wife.
Everyone rose from their seats, treating them to a standing ovation. Applauses filled the place as jolly loud music continued playing.
This is great… Sylvester thought. In front of his eyes he just witnessed a blissful wedding. He turned to look at , who was clapping and cheering for the newly weds. He couldn’t help but feel he had really found the right person.
“Let’s go on a date later.” he told her.
“What?” she turned and looked at him. The noises around were too earsplitting she couldn’t get his message. “What did you just say?”
“Let’s go on a date!” he said, a little louder this time.
“What! Say it louder! I can’t hear you!” she had to yell to get her words audible.
“LET’S GO ON A DATE!”
That cheery smile on her face went flat instantly. Even the applauses at their table stopped. People near them exchanged amused glances and gaped at them. “I…” Sylvester muttered uncomfortably, scratching the back of his head. “Sorry.” he apologized to those guests around. I must be too loud. He thought, shooting himself mentally.
A chuckle escaped from . She was trying hard not to laugh at him. Though she knew what he meant and was experiencing sugary feelings in her heart, she was nevertheless pricked by the comedy Sylvester possessed.
“Sister, say yes say yes!” A little boy surprisingly appeared beside . “Say yes to this Korkor!” he pestered excitedly, tugging onto her long sleeves.
She darted her discomfited stares from the boy to Sylvester. “Look what you’ve done.” she mumbled quietly. “You’re stealing Taufik’s limelight!”
:::::::::::::::
“Look! Chris has got himself a girlfriend!” exclaimed, glancing at the photograph of Christopher and a girl. “Bet he must be on cloud nine now.”
“What else did he say in the letter?” Sylvester asked as they entered the classroom. Both were playfully snatching the letter from one another, eager to read about their friend’s life.
“This Daphne girl looks compatible with Chris.” Sylvester grinned, looking at the photograph in ’s hands.
“My sentiments exactly.” agreed. “Two days ago God created a new couple Taufik and Leandra. Now, there’s Chris and Daphne.”
“And its time he created one more pair.” Sylvester hinted, his gaze kept at ’s side.
God Damn Sh*t.
Jelly-haired Douglas O chose to step into the class at this moment, ruining Sylvester’s line. In a matter of seconds, a typical boring lecture commenced.
Sylvester was pretending to pay attention but his gaze kept on slanting at ’s side. Lessons droned on and it was exceptionally mind-numbing. Mr. Douglas was explaining about the different types of law but the duo’s mind were engaged in worlds of fantasies.
Everything seemed so different for Sylvester today. Why didn’t he feel like paying attention? He wasn’t in the slightest mood to take down any notes. Nothing from the teacher got absorbed in his mind. He was mentally running wild with glee.
When he stole a glimpse at , she was busy taking down notes and listening intently to the teacher. That was so unlike her. “Should we give lesson a miss today?” he whispered to her when the teacher was writing on the board.
“What?” she tossed him a puzzled look, “That’s not the usual you. What happened to the diligent Sly?”
“Come on, just today. Breaking rules makes life interesting.” he smiled.
“Deal. Just today.” she winked back mischievously.
Secretly, they packed their bags.
Then in a speed faster than lighting, they bolted off their seat and dashed towards the door and out of the class with Sylvester holding onto her hand.
“SYLVESTER AND ! WHAT ARE THE TWO OF YOU DOING! COME BACK! “ Mr. Douglas’s astounded supersonic voice followed them as they ran down the corridor, breaking into peals of laughter.
With their hands interlocked, they raced down the streets as happiness sank in.
“I want the arcade now!” shouted merrily, sensing the excitement of skipping classes with someone she loves.
“That’s where we’re heading now!” Sylvester cast an affectionate look at her and beamed. They continued racing down the morning streets,
Let’s end their story with a ‘comma’ instead of a ‘full-stop’… so their love continues on and on…never an ending…
True love never has any full-stops.
And that’s the way theirs is meant to be…
Not that emblematic ‘happily ever after’ in fairy tales.
Nor that same ‘forever and ever’ in usual romances.
But just a comma that indicates the continuation of their story even after the close of this chapter…

End of chapter…
Author’s Note: Okay let me explain. I actually plan to end this story at the setting of Taufik’s wedding, where Jolin said yes. Then the crowds cheered for Sly and her. But then, I guess this is too typical so instead, I extracted a part from one of my completed fanfics to mark the ending. Still, I did change some stuffs ya. Hee..
Okay my job on this is done and I hope you guys like the ending ya. ^^,
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Something else I want to add:
I’m sure as time passes, this story will eventually be forgotten. And sure enough, I always see some writers taking ideas and plots from forgotten stories and then claiming its their work.
Please do not do this to mine. Though this fic will be forgotten one day, but still, I hope in future if you guys have come across a fic similar as mine, please do remember the original writer who wrote it.
It took me long to come up with ideas and time to draft out every chapter. So please do not plagiarize my story / ideas and claim it to be yours. In addition, do not do that to other writers too. It just spoil their spirits.
I guess its easy for one to tell if a story is copied or original even though storylines might be similar.
Hereby, I thank all of you for being such wonderful reader all this while ^^,
Have fun this Christmas!! (:
Leave me your comments here!! (^.^ ) … …
