The photographs I took although of poor quality would have been effective visuals when freezing the moment in time for a "History of "This" Space because without a doubt, the food vendors themselves and their offerings would change. I went back eight years later and nothing that I recorded still existed other than the Coffee Shop.

This in itself would have been a recording of the History of "This" Space as a Historian, but for me I saw this as a passive activity without commentary. As with people, places also mature and change, whether for better or worse. I wanted to more than merely be a recorder of a particular moment in time. I wanted to dig in further and provide a commentary on what I was recording. Photographing the dining spaces and the food menu signs just wasn't cutting it. It seemed to me it would be a history with very little to say about the space itself. This group of photographs never made it into the end product of a History of "This" Space.

The cameras were used for this history but for the purpose of capturing completely different rhetorical purposes than was originally intended. The cameras did not go to waste. They were used to capture a different set of images for visual support.
