Tom Jones
Jay Welcome back
      Talking with Tom Jones.
I gotta ask you about that Victoria's Secret lingerie commercial
      you were in there.
Tom Yeah?
Jay That's fun to do all the supermodels in there underwear?
Tom Yeah, but you know it was funny I never felt so short in my life.
Jay How do you mean?
Tom Well these girls are 6" tall to start with --
Jay Right!
Tom And the day wear the big heels, you see.
So, I've gotta be standing there for photographs so,
You know, I'm 5'10 1/2" without shoes and then
You know maybe 6' with shoes but these firls I mean.
Jay You should look at it as a challenge
Tom Well yeah
      (laughter)
No it was fun to do it.
Jay I never thought of you was a little guy from what I remember.
      (laughter)
Tom Yeah right!
Jay This is a great guy
to be on -- well I used to open for him, and you know all the
comics that opened for you, you always inclused us in the parties
and flying your jet and come up to your suite.
You are a great guy to --
a lot of acts you work with you know, you just kind of see them
      and then they go off.
But no "come on" "come in"
We had some good, good times.
      That was great
      (laughter)
Tom No, really we always had a lot of fun.
Jay Now, do women still throw the lingerie?
Tom Ah Yeah yeah they do ?
Jay Yeah!
Tom I pick them up and check them and see if they're Victoria's
      Secret or not.
Jay Oh! I see an then throw
That was an Otis Redding tune right?
Tom Yeah "Trick or Treat"
Jay Do you ever meet?
      Do you him at all?
Tom Yeah yeah!
      I met redding Otis in '66. - '67.
      Just before he died
He was in London doing shows over there at the same time so
we'd short of watch of another work and he said, which I was
thrilled with, he said you, you know, "Man you are the best soul
singer in the world. Otis Redding saying to me.
Jay Well that's very nice.
Tom I mean I said please
But no really, it was great meeting him because he was an
inovator. You know, he was one the first of those king of guys to.
Jay Right right
Now you -- what your first time performing?
      How old were you 15,16?
Tom Yeah, I sang in clubs when I was a kid to London in '64 and we
did "It's not unusual" the same year.
Jay Right right!
Tom And then I came over and did "The Ed Sullivan Show" in the
      beginning of '65.
Jay That's right!
That's were I first saw you on "The Ed Sullivan Show", you know
you sound great and you know the live show,
I saw him a couple of months ago in Vegas, man, it's as a great
      as it ever was.
Tom Thank you.
Jay And you know the whole new generetion. Cause they see Luke Perry
and all these guys show up, telling their dates, "Look at this new
      guy Tom Jones"
      (laughter)
Tom That "Trick of Treat"
You know we just recorded it
So we have a new album that is going to ve released.
But some covers, you know and --
