In the back of the club, Alice grew tired of watching the two-bit industrial band, so her eyes began to roam over the crowd. Her attention was caught by several of the corpse look-a-likes in the crowd, but they were all the same to her. Someone bumped her from behind, she turned to look, her purple bangs falling over one of her black makeup smeared eyes. She raised a fine brow as her eyes fell onto the man dressed in all white with bleached hair. The man smiled to her and held out his hand.
"This should solve your little problem.", he said in a rich Germanic accent.
She looked curiously in his palm, seeing a small tear of paper. The man remained smiling as he held the piece of paper up. Unknowingliy, she had held out her hand and the man place the tab in her now sweating palm.
"Have a wonderful time.", he chuckled as he turned.
Alice watched the man disapear in the crowd, then she looked back down to the piece of paper. She thought it was probably acid as she looked at it.
"Not like its my first time.", she murmerd before placing it on her tounge. She turned back to the stage. Instantly all of her senses were enhanced. Whoa, this shits fast she thought to herself as she staggered slightly.
She had to get out of here she thought as she pushed through the crowd. Everyone was trying to push towards the stage as the next, and more popular, band came on stage. Her paranoia was growing and she was soon frantic. All the painted faces seemed to be leering and laughing at her as she pushed by them.
She thought she saw the white man in the crowd laughing along with the others. Finaly coming to the door, she ran outside into the cold night air. Raising one hand to her forehead, she leaned against the brick wall of the club.
"What the hell was I thinking?", she muttered to herself as she looked up the street. The street seemed to grow longer as she blinked several times. "I have to get home."
She pushed off the wall and began to stumble down the street. As she slowly began to gain some control she passed by a homeless person sitting against a wall.
"You ought to be a mime.", said the bum.
She turned to him,"What?"
"Can you spare me a dime?"
"N..no, sorry.", she said as she hurried along.
She came to an intersection and was about to cross when she saw headlights at the end of the street. Its going to hit me she thought and she stepped back onto the curb. Alice began crying as she realized she couldn't cross the street. She folded her arms around herself, staring at the street. Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder. "Need help?", came a strange voice
"I..I..can't do it...", she stammared.
The hand slowly turned her around, and she saw that it was the white man, but it wasn't his voice, "Sure you can."
"B..b..but...", before she could finish the man pushed her out into the street. She screamed and looked around, but no cars were coming. She quickly ran to the otherside of the street, not looking back for the man.
She began shaking slowly as she moved down the street that she thought led to her apartment. She kept her head lowerd, watching her feet as they moved. Everytime she stepped on an ant she thought she hard it scream. She heard a noise and looked up slowly, a police car was driving by with sirens blaring, which she thought were screaming "Cow, Cow!". She shook her head and continued down the street quickly.
She looked up just in time to see the door to her apartment building. She slowly moved to the door, looking back the way she came then pushed inside. The lobby of her building seemed normal, the dirty green tiled floor, yellowish walls and trash strewn everywhere. She moved across the floor quietly, every little sound sounding like an explosion. She pressed the button for the elevator and quickly turned to watch the door.
She thought she saw something white run by the door. She screamed as the bell to the elevator chimed. She turned, realizing what it was, and she stepped inside. Pressing the button to her floor, she moved into a corner of the elevator and watched the door close. Just acid, thats all it is, she thought as the low chime of the elevator sounded for each floor.
The door opened at her floor and she moved away from the corner and stepped off the elevator. She could see the door to her apartment but it seemed miles away down the hallway. She could hear the voices of the people in the other apartments. She walked faster when she heard people screaming.
"This is wrong.", she mumbled as she rubbed her arms because she was growing cold. After what seemed to be hours she finally reached her apartment door. She rummeged through her purse, looking for her keys when she felt a sharp pain in her finger. She quickly drew back her hand from her purse and saw the blood dripping from her finger. The blood dripped onto the floor infont of her, she watched the drops fall slowly and smack against the floor, watched the small puddle form.
It took her a few minutes to figure out what happened. She placed her finger in her mouth, tasting the coppery-sweet fluid and reached for her keys again, avoiding the knife. She pulled out her keys and quickly unlocked the door and slipped iniside, sliding the deadbolt. Dropping her purse, not caring if it was on the table, she moved across the small three bedroom apartment and into the bathroom. She turned the shower on and slowly stripped off her clothes.
Moving under the spray of water, she almost immediatly felt her head clearing. After ten minutes she turned the water off and stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around her. On her way out of the bathroom she picked up another towel and began drying her hair. She turned on the t.v. and started making some tea.
The voice on the t.v. was a news caster:
"In other news, a new drug is going through Lukingglase. It is a new form of LSD called Wunderland and experts say it is the strongest form this city has seen. Police have identified a well known drug dealer known as Cheshier the Cat is spreading it, commonly seen in all white. Police say never take this drug because it is highly addict..."
Alice never heard the last part, she was already running down the street searching for the white man, she needed more. Alice was stuck in Wunderland.
The End...
