You vaguely wonder if this was a good idea to walk blindly towards rushing water. It's so close yet so far slightly knocking your equilibrium eskew. You stop for a moment letting your foot search the ground before you... Good idea considering that there seems to be a drop off!
You slowly lower to your knees and crawl forward feeling the ground until your hands reach where your foot was just a moment before. How deep the hole is you can't tell, but it's certainly farther than the length of your reach! The sound of the water seems to be lessening now, moving away until it fades from the room.
You sit back still in the pitch black. Again, no sound of water, only the sound of your even breathing.
