Carefully moving down the stairs, you find it more than a little annoying that you can't see anything, if you had some light you wouldnt have to move a such a crawling pace for fear of falling or missing some opening or something. As you continue time seems to slip by and yet the stairs are still going, *maybe this wasn't such a good idea* you think to yourself. After a little while you feel as though something is slightly different but can't quite place what it is, you stop to try and figure this out; it's not like the stairway's going to disappear if you stop for a moment.
Sitting down for a moment you think about what it could possibly be, then resting your hand on the hard dirt stair you notice what your bare feet did not; the ground is warm. Your feet probably didn't notice because the change was gradual, you wonder at the cause of this. It couldn't be that there is something below that's really hot like a lava pool or something (this would be VERY bad) because the walls are still at a regular temperature or your hands wouldn't be able to tell the difference either. The ground isn't hot or in anyway uncomfortable, hence why you didn't notice for so long, but just the right temperature. With that sorted you prepare to make your crawlingly slow way down more stairs and stumble a bit as you find the next step is actually a flat surface. Great, either the stairway really DID disappear when you stopped or you have the worst sense of timing in the universe... probably the later. On doing a little careful exploration you find that there is a fork in the passage? Tunnel? Whatever it is youre in, up ahead; one path is totally identical to the other except that they go in different directions. So, will you...
1) Go down the left path? (Available)
2) Go down the right path? (Available)
3) Go back up the stairs? (Available)
4) Sit and think? (Available)
5) Check yourself (and curse yourself for an idiot if you find box of matches)? (Available)
