Chapter Three

Kia sat in her two store house in Lexington Avenue in her blue boxers and a white T-shirt. It was a very peaceful place here on Lexington Avenue. The city of Inchon was very . . . well . . . active. Never had she been around a place so full of life. Back in the old days, it was like up to a hundred people in a village. But that was a long time ago, she was starting from scratch. A new life, still doing her usual human job and Chosen job. She worked as a secretary at the Brown’s Delivery Com. She worked hard to fit in with the humans. But her other job was the most serious and crucial. To ban demons from the human world and back to the Darkness. It wasn’t that she wanted to or not.

The recliner she was in was a deep blue with a velvet like cushions. Sitting crossed legged in it, she watched what was on the television. It took a while to figure out how to set it since she lived so long without this device. She felt an urge to eat something. She got up from the recliner. And went into her kitchen. Receiving a bowl of dip. While balancing this on one hand she slammed the frig door closed, spun and went to a cabinet. Getting the chips. She was addicted to this stuff. She loved chips and dip and a place known as "Steak and Shake." They were the first thing she tasted when coming here. As she sat the bowl and began to open the chips she could hear something from the tv.

"Another body found again in the alley way, police can identify the body as James Smith. He was killed hours long before he was found by a jogger. Police received a report on how James was apparently robbing a gas station. Money was found on at the scene of the murder. Cause of death was believed to be a large dose of blood taken from the body. More reports later."

Kia stopped what she was doing. Dropping the chips all over the floor. ‘It couldn’t be, could it?’ she thought. She only knew a few demons that did that, but knew the main type. Vampires, she vanished some of them but knew of only one that could be around here. "Draxx" she murmured.

She collapses on the tiled kitchen floor. It couldn’t have been him, could it? She closed her eyes and prayed to her sister for help. Remembering her last dying words, "Follow your heart, it never goes wrong." Kia erased that fouled thought of Draxx being the murderer. She knew that he would stay by her. At least she hoped.
