It was the second day of their little vacation and Taylor was alone as usual. It was about 2:00 in the afternoon and Ike and Zac were nowhere to be found. Tay was outside, by the pool, hoping someone would come by and keep him company. The phone rang inside and he ran to the house to answer it.
"Hey Tay, it's Ike," Isaac said when Tay picked up.
"Ike! Where are you? Why did you guys just leave me here all alone?" he asked angrily.
"We're at the studio," he answered. Taylor could hear the laughs of Zac and the members of 3-D in the backround.
"I guess you're not alone," he said bitterly.
"Yeah, Tracie, Mindie and Sylvie are here. They wanted to hear some of the songs that we did."
"What songs?" cried Tay. "We haven't even finished one song since we got here! Because you two aren't taking anything seriously, just clowning around with some stupid girls you just met."
"Well, they wanted to see the studio anyway. I see you worked on Save Me. It sounds alright," Ike said.
"Just alright? I worked all day on that song all by myself while you guys were at the beach having fun without me!"
"Well, Tay, it's not our fault you don't have any friends," Ike said. "Besides, you should come down here, maybe we can work on the song without all the annoying record people here. I guess you figured out how to use the sound board."
"Yeah, well, when you don't have any friends, you figure out things on your own," he snapped. "I guess I'll come down. I have nothing else to do, considering I don't have a soul in the world."
"Just get down here, loser," laughed Ike. "We'll see you soon."
Taylor hung up the phone and called a cab to come get him. He was getting very familiar with the Los Angeles Checker Cab Association since he got in L.A and nobody wanted to drive him anywhere. I really need to get my liscence, he thought. Even Tamara has hers!
In about 25 minutes, they pulled up to the studio and Taylor paid the cabbie and went inside to his second home. He could hear the voices of his brothers and the girls coming from the studio, so he snuck up to the door and peeked around the corner.
"LOVING YOUUUUUUU!!!!!!! Like I never had beFORE!" screeched Zac. "Hey, who do I sound like, guys?" he asked as he pretended to sing soulfully into the microphone. "Guys, guys, you're messing everything up! Try to sound perfect, like me!!!"
Ike laughed. "Yeah, my brothers are really slowing things down! I should go solo!"
Taylor felt his mouth go dry as he realized they were making fun of him. He had forgotten to erase the things he had said about his brothers when he was recording last night! They had played back the tapes and heard him talking bad about them. He swallowed as he walked into the room.
"Um, hey guys, what's up?" he tried to say nonchalontly. They all looked up at him at once and were silent.
"Now, I know what you're thinking, but it wasn't my fault! I was all alone and you guys abandoned me!" he tried to stick up for himself.
"Never mind, Taylor. Just forget about it," Ike said. Taylor could tell he was mad. Oh great, now they're mad at me, when I didn't even do anything! Could things get any worse?
"Well, if you guys aren't going to work on anything right now, how about hearing one of our songs?" asked Tracie. "We brought our music tracks!"
"Oh, big surprise," Taylor mumbled under his breath.
"Yeah, let's hear it!" said Ike. "Hey, how about if we record you guys singing along with the music?"
"Well, I don't know..." Tracied pretended to be acting embarrassed. "Well, okay! Come on girls!" They ran over to the microphones in the other rooms and spoke into them.
"It should be cued up to the right spot," said Mindie, smiling at Taylor. He rolled his eyes and flipped on the board.
"I suppose that I'm going to have to do this?" he asked his brothers.
"You're the only one who knows how to," Zac said. "Brother dear." Taylor glared at him and put on the headphones. He started the tape and turned the microphones to record.
The dance/techno music started and the girls started to sing.
"I'm giving you all my love..." sang Tracie.
"I want you to know how I feel," Mindie sang.
"I'm telling you that this is real," all three sang in harmony. "You need to check yourself. Let your feelings flow. I can't take this no more. You're leading me on."
The song went on like this for quite a while, boring, monotone and uncreative, or at least, that's what Taylor thought. His brothers thought differently.
"That was great!" exclaimed Ike.
"Yeah, it would go straight to number 1!" Zac added. The girls giggled and pretended to be modest.
"You think?" said Tracie. "Well, maybe we could send it to a record company!"
"Yeah, we could help you make the demo right here," said Ike.
"Are you kidding?" asked Tay. "We can't waste our equipment on their stupid songs!" They all ignored him.
"We should make about 50 cds and ship them to all the major ones," Zac calculated.
"Let's do our other song, then," Mindie said. "Tay, start it up, since you're doing such a great job."
"Gag me," he said under his breath as he started the next track. It sounded almost identical the last one.
"I want to love you like never before," they sang. "So just come knock on my door..."
"And I'll knock you to the floor and start to score before you show me a cure to stop this bore forever more I like this store..." Taylor said, making fun of their lyrics all rhyming. After emense pain and boredom, the song was done and D-3 had recorded their first two proffessional songs.
"Thanks guys! That was so sweet of you to let us do that. We'll never forget about this," said Tracie. "Let's go make copies of the cds and get them sent out!"
"Wouldn't that be funny if we got on the same record label as you guys?" asked Sylvie. "Us with Hanson and Haley Adiela and all those famous people!"
"That would be...unmentionable," Taylor muttered.
They spent the rest of the day making copies of the demo, when, in Taylor's opinion, they should have been using their time to record something much more important, their new cd. After the cds were done, Isaac spoke.
"We could take these to the printer and put your pictures on the cover and make it look really good," he said. "It wouldn't take long and then we could mail them tonight."
"Good idea! In fact," Tracie said, looking at her sisters, "we have some photos with us right now." She pulled out a photo portfolio from her purse and started to look throught the pictures. "This one's really cute," she said, pointing to one of her and her sisters standing by the ocean. "Let's use this one for the cover."
"Alright," Ike agreed. "We can take it over to the printer right now."
"Well," Mindie hesitated. "We don't have any money with us to copy it."
"Oh," Ike said. "Well, that's okay. We can pay for it."
"Are you sure?" asked Tracie. "That's really sweet!"
Ike smiled and turned to his brothers. "Do you guys have any money?" he asked.
Zac shook his head. "No, I'm broke. I spent my money buying Sylvie that outfit she liked so much."
"And I payed for lunch yesterday," Ike said. "Tay?"
"Oh no, don't look at me," he started. "I am not paying to help these stupid girls become little singers."
"Come on Tay. We'll pay you back," Ike said. "You should pay for it anyway, after all the things you said about us on the recording."
"What? You're going to hold that against me forever!? It's not my fault..."
"Whatever Tay," Ike said coldly. "Just give us the money."
Tay sighed and handed them his money. "I can't believe this is happening."
Ike took the picture and ran down the street to the printer. In about 15 minutes, he returned with 50 album covers with 3-D's smiling faces on them. "I think these are all set to go."
"Yea!" giggled the girls. "Thanks so much! We love you!"
"Somebody save me," muttered Taylor as the three girls surrounded him and gave him a group hug.
