Chapter 56- Live At The Marriot

"Now which one of these girls would make the best match with Scott Moffatt?" Taylor asked Zoe, holding up two pictures in front of his little sister. Zoe pushed the pictures out of Taylor's hands and pointed to him.

"Dat one!" she shrieked, grabbing his hair.

Taylor scoffed. "Zoe, I am NOT a girl. You're not helping at all here," he said as he picked up the pictures off the floor. Zoe continued laughing and screaming "GIRL!" in Taylor's face. "THANKS," he said as he stormed out of the room. He went outside to the pool, where Tamara, Jessica and Avery were lounging at the poolside.

"Okay, I've narrowed it down to three choices," he said, plopping down next to Tamara.

"What are you talking about?" Tamara asked.

"The girls we're going to set Scott Moffatt up with! To keep him away from you!" he said exasperatley.

Tamara took off her sunglasses and stared at him. "You are not serious. You're actually going to try and set up Scott Moffatt with a girl? Geez, I told you Tay, you have nothing to worry about..."

"I know. But I think it would be better for EVERYONE if he was out of our hair and kept occupied with a new honey. So here are the choices I've picked. He's got to like ONE of them." He spread out the three pictures in front of them.

"This first one is Melissa Welsh, she's from that group Dream, the blond one..."

"I know who she is."

"Okay, well, she's 14 and-"

"Isn't that a little young for Scott? I mean, he's what, 17? 18?"

"Who CARES how old the girl is, she looks like his age, so that's all that matters. ANYWAY, she's going to be at the Marriot Tuesday night, we should all go and try and get them together."

"But Taylor, you hate that kind of music. It'll be like torture to you," Tamara said.

"Yes. Well, I'm prepared to do whatever it takes to get him away from you...and the rest of us, because, geez, he is just SO annoying, I mean, look at the guy, I just can't take his stupid, little..."

"Okay okay, I get it. Who's the next one?"

"Alright, this girl is the daughter of one of the executives at our recording studio. We should invite her to come down and then lock her in a room with Scott or something."

"What's the 411 on her?"

"Her name's Tara and she is 17, I think, I've only met her once and she was kinda fat...but I heard she lost a lot of weight and is dating a lot more..."

"Okay, great. Who's the last one?"

"Well, the last one is....Hailie Adiela."

Tamara shot around and looked at Taylor. "What."

"I know that we never wanted to see her again, but maybe it could really work out between them...both obnoxious, self-centered, stupid..."

"But I thought she was with Nick Carter..."

"Well, I saw on MTV that he dumped her for some chick named Willa Ford." "Alright. But let me take care of that one. I don't want you going near her."

"Okay, I understand. She's going to be at her record release party on Friday, at Club Liquid. We can probably get in somehow. I'm sure she'll be soooo thrilled to see us there. So those are our three choices. ONE of them is sure to work."

"This is craziness," sighed Tamara.

That Tuesday, after suffering through many smug and annoying looks from Scott all day, Taylor went up to him at the end of the day.

"Hey man," said Taylor. "What's up?"

"Oh, come to check up on us, have you?" Scott said smugly. Taylor fought back the urge to punch him and just smiled. Well, grimaced.

"Nah, you're no compitition for us, that's a well known fact," Tay said. "But, to show that there are no hard feelings between our two bands, we were wondering if you would like to hang out with us on Tuesday."

"What's Tuesday?" Scott asked suspiciously.

"Oh, just a free concert downtown. Thought it would be fun, a lot of groups are going to be there and it will, um, give us a chance to get out of the studio and get to know each other better." It was a bunch of bull and both Taylor and Scott knew it, but Scott looked interested.

"Is Tamara going?" he asked, a little grin on his face.

Taylor fumed inside and for a second felt like forgetting about the plan and just murdering Scott right here and now, but decided against it. "Yeah. I mean, yes, she's going, we all are. It'll be...fun."

"Alright," shrugged Scott. "I guess we'll go."

"Okay, great. Talk to you later," Taylor said as he walked away as quickly as possible. What a creep, he thought.

That Tuesday, Taylor, Tamara, Zac, Scott, Clint and Bob met outside the studio after they had finished recording for the day. Isaac and Dave Moffatt had decided to not join in the festivities and had gone home to bigger and better things. Like Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Anyway, the six kids stood on the sidewalk staring at each other for a few seconds. It was a precarious situation, almost like two rival gangs meeting up on mutual territory for a big rumble. Luckily, the tension was broken by Zac, who pretended to trip over a trash can and fall on his butt.

"Sorry. I farted," he said.

"So did I!!!" said Bob Moffatt.

"Cool!" said Zac. "Hey, I heard that you're the dumb one of the group! So am I!"

"There always has to be a dumb one," said Bob. "Might as well be me and anyway, my name IS Bob."

"Well, anyway, let's get going," said Taylor, always taking charge. "Here comes our limo."

"Limo?" said Tamara. "Really, Taylor, when do we ever go in limo?

"Well, the rented El Camino can NOT fit all of us, so I needed to find something quick."

"Obviously you chose this limo too quick," said Scott laughing. He pointed to the limo coming down the road. It was purple, with green polka dots. "What is it, a clown car?"

"Oh for heaven's sake," said Taylor. "Why can't we ever get a normal car?"

"Hey, I like the cars we always get," said Zac. "They're neat!"

"Yes, I agree," said Bob.

"Shut up, Bob," said Clint.

"Shut up, Clint," Bob said back.

"Geez, you guys have the dumbest names," said a random old lady walking down the street. Before anyone could say anything back to her, like shut up you old bag, she was gone and the six of them stood gaping at each other.

"Well...let's go!" said Zac.

When they arrived at the Marriot Hotel a half hour later, there was already a large crowd gathered outside. But, with their charming personalities and, um, VIP passes, they were able to skip the lines and go straight inside to the auditorium. It was there that they found the lineup of that evening's performers.

"Let's see, we've got Linkin Park, Sum41, Dream, Charlotte Church and a group called SyncIn, a tribute group to NSync," read Scott. "Well, some of those are good. I haven't gone to listen to live music in a long time."

"Yeah, me either," said Tamara. Taylor glared at her. "Cause I've just been sooo busy, having the time of my life, with my WONDERFUL, hot, sexy boyfriend." Taylor rolled his eyes, but couldn't help but laugh.

"Yeeaaah, I bet. Let's all just go sit down before it starts," he said. The gang trooped down the the third row, where they all had a terrible time decided who would sit next to who. Clint didn't want to sit next to Bob and Bob didn't want to sit next to Clint, but Zac didn't mind sitting next to Bob. Taylor didn't want to sit next to Scott, but he didn't want Tamara sitting next Scott either. Finally, they sat in this order: Clint, Scott, Bob, Zac, Taylor and Tamara. Tamara ended up sitting next to the guy who plays Miguel on the hit NBC daytime drama Passions and was quite happy about this, until Taylor made her switch with him.

"Haha," he said.

"You suck," she said, sitting down next to Zac.

"I feel like my life is a Saturday Night Live script," said Zac outloud. Bob agreed.

"I often feel that way as well. But then I just watch Telletubies and life just makes so much sense."

"I know! That's how I feel too! Wow, it's like looking in a mirror!" Zac said. To Taylor's pleasure, the lights dimmed and everyone jumped on their feet, cheering. Sum41 came out first, because for some stupid reason the best group always goes first, causing those people who were caught in a traffic jam on the turnpike to be late and miss most of their set. But anyway, they came out and rocked the house while playing all of their songs from their CD, which only took 32 minutes. They left the stage saying they were Canadian (much to Zac's delight, for some reason. Oh yeah, and Bob's too, seeing as the Moffatts are from Canada, which isn't a real country anyway) and the house lights came back on.

"I'm gonna go get some food," said Scott. "Anyone want anything? He looked at Tamara, who looked at Taylor.

"No, we're fine," Taylor said. "Thanks anyway...not," he said under his breath. Scott left and came back a little later, with popcorn and glowsticks.

"It makes it more fun!" he said, handing out one to each of them.

"How thoughtful!" said Zac, immediatley opening his and sticking it in his mouth. "Look at me, I'm a raver!"

"Hm," said Bob, taking his glowstick and sticking it up his nose. "So am I!" Nobody laughed at either of them. "I can't sit next to you anymore, Bob," said Scott. "No offense. Zac, switch with me?"

"Sure," said Zac, occupied with his glowstick.

"No Zac..." said Taylor. But Zac had already switched seats with Scott before he realized what he had done. Now Scott was next to Tamara. Taylor looked like he wanted to kill someone, but he wasn't sure who to start with, Zac or Scott.

"I love you," said Tamara, giving Taylor a quick kiss on the cheek. "Don't do anything stupid."

Taylor relaxed and tried to forget about the fact that the world's biggest slimeball was sitting right next to his girlfriend, trying to get with her. Linkin Park came on and a mosh pit formed. Taylor saw this as a sign from God to beat the crap out of Scott legally, so as the crowd starting getting into the music crowding to the front, Taylor made sure to push and shove Scott as much as possible.

After Linkin Park left the stage and everyone found their way back to their seats, Taylor quickly dropped into Tamara's seat, between her and Scott. "Well! That was fun, huh?" said Taylor.

"Yeah," said Scott, rubbing his neck. "Got a little rough in there, huh Taylor?" Taylor just smirked. Tamara just rolled her eyes. Zac just sat down and began having a deep conversation with Bob about tree elves. Clint had disappeared after Sum41 and nobody missed him much.

"Well, hey, Dream's on next!" said Taylor, trying to sound very excited about a girl group. "Wahoo!"

"You like them?" Scott asked incredulsly. "I wouldn't have guessed..."

"Yeah, well, I love that pop...music," he forced himself to say. "Besides," he said, his voice dropping, "that Melissa sure is hot, huh?" Scott looked at him funnily.

"Um, I guess so..." he just looked confused and turned to face the stage. Dream came out shortly and starting singing and of course dancing, wearing their punk rock clothes because they are so punk.

"Isn't this great?" yelled Taylor over the "music." "I think we should try and get backstage and meet them!"

"Yeah!" yelled Tamara. "I want to meet Sum41." Taylor gave her a funny look and shook his head. "What? Oh yeah, and Dream too!"

"Okay, it's cool with me," said Scott. "Let's go after Dream is over, I don't really care about the other groups performing."

"Okay," said Taylor. "We'll go meet Dream!"
