Candle Colors
Working with candles is a simple or complex minor magick,
depending upon the rite or ritual you perform along with it. Candle
magick works on the following principles:
- The color of the Candle
- The type of oil you use to dress it
- The sigils you carve (or do not carve) upon it
- The sort of divinity you call as you light it
You can make candle magick complicated, if you like. This involves the array
of colors, deities, oils, and the use of timing. There are five-day candle spells,
seven-day candle spells, nine-day candle spells, Tarot candle spells, astrological
candle spells, and planetary candle spells. Timed spells require a specific
number of candles to be burned on a specific day or number of days, at the same
time each day for a set period of time. A whole ritual can be written around a
candle spell. In short, there is no end to your ingenuity in working with
candle magick. It is fun, inexpensive, and it works.
However, you must understand that the simple action of lighting a candle
will not make anything happen -- you must have focus of energy. A candle
spell usually involves a simple chant or poem-like charm, and raising and directing
power. This is key in the practice of candle magick.
Color is energy. Color is determined by light waves, so color truly is
energy. Therefore, color has a great influence in magick. The following
are the color correspondences.

The Candle Color Correspondences
Red
Strength, passion, vigor, lust, driving force, health.
Orange
Business goals, attraction, career, legal matters, justice.
Blue
Communication, the Spirit, good fortune, wisdom, protection, spirtual
inspiration, calm, water, creativity.
Purple
Dreams, psychism, third eye, hidden knowledge, self assurance, spiritual power.
Black
Repelling negativity, protection, shapeshifting, binding.
White
Spirituality, the Goddess, peace, higher self, purity, virginity.
Pink
Romantic love, togetherness, spiritual awakening, healing of spirit.
Magenta
Very high vibrational frequency that tends to work very quickly, so burn to manifest
things with speed, for quick changes, spiritual healng, exorcism. Burn with other colors
to speed things up.
