"...Perhaps the best horror film ever to be made..." - Melody Maker
No it is not.

"The best slam-bang, no holds-barred, scare-the...out-of-you horror movie for quite a while." - Screen International
yeah - for about 3 minutes.

"I have seen the future of horror... his name is Clive Barker." - Stephen King
No. His name is Jason Voorhees.

Hellraiser was released quite a while ago now, and certainly has it’s moments, especially the bit with the hammer. Hellraiser is over-hyped half baked limited nonsence.
The movie is about a magic box that if opened correctly can open the doorway to hell, where the cenobites live, notably Pin-Head and Chatterbox. The movie seems to be empty, but the sequels improve upon this original quite a lot, although it is not all bad news, as the gore is quite good, and there is an okay-ish story. The star of the movie is Andrew Robinson (Mr Elim Garak, DS9) who plays the father, who is killed near the end of the film and has his skin stolen by his brother. As you can tell by this review, there’s not really much to say about this average movie, created by an average horror movie maker.
