posted 09:00/20/12/2004 ASDA sold once again. This time to the Canadian giant 'GRESBLES CO LTD' - as described in this mornings press release by GRESBLES Company CEO David Toper :
"We are pleased to announce that from the new year, we will be running the company currently known as ASDA under our name. We welcome ASDA into our company not only as a new branch of our growing company - but as proof of our commitment to create a new standard in smaller super-markets. With us in the saddle, we hope to continue and expand the ASDA legacy - under the GRESBLES banner. Your local GRESBLES SUPER-STORE will be the only choice for quality food and household poducts. Our plan is to scale down the current ASDA stores and by 2007 to have downsized the company by 60 %. Analysts have shown that smaller stores equal more business in real terms - each super-store will fall in line with the size of your local corner-store, and yet will offer twice as many products than our nearest competitors - 'Sainsbury'."
