And... (untitled)Part 10, late 1999)

As obscure as it might seem, Friday the 13th Part 5 follows the story of Friday the 13th from Part 4, The Final Chapter (1984). The movie is set 6 years after Part 4, and follows Tommy Jarvis as he is put into The Unger Institute of Mental Health, which is supposedly a number of miles from Crystal Lake - but if that is so, who is the murderer with the hockey mask who is killing the inmates? Well, it clearly isn’t Jason, because Jason wouldn’t wear a stupid looking blue boiler-suit. The movie isn’t particularly gory or nasty at all, and loses the atmosphere of the first four films, but at least it is consistent, with Corey Feldman playing Tommy again at the beginning. A point of interest is that this is the first Friday movie to have the popular Friday 13th Jingle, which is played in the opening scene, and although not very gory, it has a high kill count with 22 people being killed by the not very Jason-a-like. Some of the deaths are quite interesting, such as the couple in the woods who finish shagging, then the bird gets scissored in the face through her eyes, and then the bloke gets his head crushed by a belt.
The movie attempts to be one of those ones that makes you think ‘who is the killer? It can’t be Jason can it? Perhaps it is blah blah, or so and so, or that bloke, but unfortunately you find yourself not really caring who is doing the killing. A part of the movie that is popular with the fans (me), is the scene near the start with Joey ("I got TWO chocolate bars!"), when he gets hacked up by a mad bloke that he’s annoying.
So better than part 8, but not as good as any of the others, this seems more like a TV movie, but is still welcomed as one of the better horror movies and definitely not a classic.
