Description What’s this : A Friday the 13th that’s not actually called Friday 13th? A Friday 13th made by new Line Cinema? A Friday 13th with Jason who goes without his mask and speaks? Oh yes - this mess up is clearly the work of the Nightmare On Elm Street makers (Sorry Yoda). The movie begins with Jason chasing a woman through some woods at Crystal Lake, after being overwhelmed with Toxic Waste in New York at the end of Part 8, and then supposedly being flushed from the sewers, only to be washed up on the banks of Crystal Lake, having banged his head on the sewer walls, therefore making his head lumpy. Jason follows this woman who turns out to be a special agent, and Jason is blown up by an "incoming" shell from above during an ambush by the authorities. After this, Jason possesses the bodies (to him, they’re like suits) of victims so he can be reborn through a family member, who turns out to be his sister, even though Jason was an only child according to Mrs Voorhees. Another mess up by New Line is that they spelled Voorhees wrong on the signpost outside the house : they spelled it Vorhees.
The movie is entertaining all of the way through, though it is not in the same style of horror as the previous 8, and the last scene with Freddy Kruegar is quite a point of interest, setting up the future of A Nightmare On Elm Street and Friday the 13th.
