"Forget Us Not..."

We are the victims of hatred
The innocents killed by crazed minds

We Are ...

The mother that gave you life
The father who taught you how to throw a ball
Your teacher, your mailman, your favorite cashier at the grocery store

We are your brothers and sisters, who you love even though you did fight as kids
The cousins you haven't seen for years but still remember building that snowman with

We are the priests who baptized your firstborn
The ministers and rabbis that joined you in holy matrimony
Your aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews who always came for every birthday party

The strangers you passed everyday on the street
Your grandmothers that rocked you and sang you to sleep
Your grandpa that always had a special suprise for you and a horsey ride

We are the veterans that fought for your freedom
The policemen on the corner who always had a special hello for you
The ambulance drivers that came when you broke your leg on the ice

Your favorite writers and artists
Your next door neighbors who brought you cookies every Christmas
We are the firefighters who saved your Aunt Mary when her house caught on fire

We are someone's husband who is now alone to raise the children made from love
The wife of a man who cried watching his young bride come down the aisle
We are their children

We are someone's grandchild who will never see us grow
We are the kids from the wrong side of the tracks that fought to succeed
We are of all colors and faiths, yet all the same

That is who we are
A piece of all that makes up this world
A small part of America and other lands

Believers in peace and loving thy neighbors
Believers in Santa, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny
Believers in the magic of a firefly or a falling star

We are lives that were cut short by hearts full of hatred
We loved and are loved
We are just like you

Remember us in your hearts...
As we will remember you...

With Love,
Heaven's Newest Angels
