If you are not a power user you may still feel the bite of the Millennium Bug or Y2K problem - even if you are just doing windows.
Both Windows 3.1 (Yes, I know some of you out there still have this running on some machines) and Windows 95 have some Y2K annoyances - called "minor compliance issues" by Microsoft. Thankfully, they are easily fixed.
The Y2K problems of DOS
How will you know if you have a Y2K Windows 3.x problem? Check File Manager. The problem isn't a showstopper but it can be annoying.
Windows File Manager displays an incorrect date if the file is created/modified with a date on or after 01-01-2000.
Windows 3.1 Leap Year Problem - only if you touch it!
Under Windows 3.1, the date cannot be set to 02-29-2000 (29 February, 2000) in the control panel applet "DATE/TIME" using the mouse. Note that the system does correctly roll over to February 29. So if you do not touch the date/time control panel applet on 29 February, 2000, your PC will work and have the correct date and time.
Getting it Fixed
