The Collection of Useless Stuff About Me

As if you couldn't get enough of me...

I mainly am called either Carolyn or Carrie, but I also have numerous other names, such as Juan, Bright Light, Carolyn Ell, or Kleeko Girl. I won't go into how they came about.

Naturally, I love my family, but sometimes I just want to move a thousand miles away and have nothing to do with them again.

I may seem dull if I say this, but I actually enjoy reading assigned books for english, except for Fahrenheit 451. Yes, I liked The Scarlet Letter and others. Yes, I am weird and dull (har, har)...

Once I kicked a pigeon, and if you're an animal rights activist, don't start with the endless e-mails. Looking back, I don't regret it at all. The best part was that I did it when the ECOS guide was giving a speech on what NOT to do in a zoo. He wasn't very happy.

I love to swim, and I liked competing against other schools, but I suck. I didn't try during practices, and it showed. But I don't care, so there. As long as I get to swim, I'm happy.

I absolutely love scuba-diving. I just can't wait to do it in the Tropics. I've only done it in the 57 degree waters of Cape Ann, MA and let me tell you, wetsuits are NOT fun! But the lobsters and dueling crabs were cute.

My grand-parents live in Florida and we go to visit them everyother year. They have a pool. It's great!

I'm addicted to Disney World, partly because my aunt works there. We get in free and stay in awesome hotels for cheap.

I really miss the permenant internet connection I had in my dorm room when I'm home for the summer.

I'm addicted to AOL Instant Messanger. It's the greatest invention ever. I especially love away messages and reading other people's at the same time. I'm usually really creative when it comes to writing them. My screen name is StarryMe17, by the way. =)

Lately, I've been attracted to older men. Before school ended, Dorothy and I shared this thing for Colin Firth. Then I saw U2 in concert, and now I have a thing for Bono.

Over the summer before I started college, I grew out my bangs. I should have way before that, but my mom kept telling me what a pain it was. It wasn't a big deal at all, and it's definitely the best decision I've made, appearance wise.

I look a lot younger than I actually am.

I love contact lenses, and I can't imagine going back to glasses.

Going to college really expanded my taste in music. I was introduced to Dar Williams, who's an awesome folk singer. JoJo, MHC's president, gave us a free Dar concert on the last day of classes spring semester.

My ex-boyfriend Eric really got me into Led Zeppelin. They're the best band to drive around to.

I got my first car in the spring of 2000, and I'm surprised it lasted me until October 2001. It was an '88/'89 Ford Mustang with a really bad paint job and it only cost me $500! Yet it continued to die even after putting lots of money into it. Now it sits in our side yard, waiting for Peter to get his permit.

My car at the moment was my grandparent's. They got a new one so I got their old one, an '86 Cougar with a much better paint job. My $65 car is named Martin 'cause it reminds me of a butler or something. I love Martin, or at least that's what I tell him when he starts to act up.

I have several stickers on the back of my car: Spongebob Squarepants, Less Than Jake, "Member of the Ministry of Magic", "If it's not fun, why do it?" from Ben & Jerry's, Air National Guard (courtesy of Andy), and the typical "Mount Holyoke College" rear window sticker.

When I'm bored, Ebay is my best friend. I love finding cheap Doc Martens and hard-to-find make-up.

No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to be able to keep a journal. Lately I've been successful, but I've probably just jinxed myself.

I'm very indecisive. I always seem to choose the middle choice no matter what I'm doing.

Ska music is my favorite. It's so happy and always puts me in a good mood. The atmosphere at a ska show is unbelievable and you should definitely go to one even if you don't like the music.

Whenever my high school friends and I can't decide what we want to do when we hang out, we usually end up at the swings in Longmeadow. It's usually after dark too, and the cops end up kicking us out because they think we're smoking pot. Why can't we just swing without an ulterior motive???

The lyrics to ACDC's "Big Ball" are hysterical and ingenius in a weird way...

I took Latin in high school for three years, and I loved it. It was probably because of Mr. Denis, who is the best teacher I've had. It's too bad I don't remember most of it now, though.

Like all college students, people ask me all the time what my major is. I have no problem telling them it's math, but it really bothers me when they ask me what I plan to do with it and already have the assumption that I want to teach. I have absolutely no desire to go into teaching.

The best part of summer vacation is the fact that I can spend the whole day reading, if I want to. There are so many books out there that I want to read, but I really don't have time to during the school year.

I've worked at Target as a cashier, sometimes at the service desk, for two years. I really don't mind the job since I get paid a lot more than I would anywhere else. I have good friends there, and the only time I had a strong desire to actually leave was after the whole Eric situation. LONG story...

I applied at Old Navy when I wanted to leave Target, and I still have yet to hear from them. Sheesh.

My favorite soda is Stewart's soda, especially Cherries & Cream, even though it tastes like cough syrup. I started to collect the bottle tops when Blanchard Cafe started selling them. Each one has an outline of West Virginia on it, and my friends and I can't figure out why. The soda's bottled in Colorado....

I love math, which is weird because I never did throughout high school. I took Linear Algebra to fill a distribution requirement at Mount Holyoke, loved it, and took another math course spring semester, and loved that too, There are a ton of other courses I want to take, and so I figured if I'm going to take all these math classes I might as well be a math major.

I always assumed I'd be a journalism major since I loved working on my high school paper.

I have a huge collection of cool make-up but I never wear it. I only wear eyeshadow and chapstick on a regular basis.

During finals week in December, I couldn't stop listening to Third Eye Blind, particularly "How's It Going to Be." I still can't figure out what drew me towards that song so much.

I have some friends who have pretty unusual names, like Cherise, Finnuoula, and Dorothy. And then I have a ton of friends named Kate or Katie, which is pretty confusing sometimes.

I really wish I could sing well. I have no talent whatsoever, but I still sing all the time, especially in the car.

One of my favorite movies is Anywhere But Here and the guy (Corbin Allred) who plays Peter is soo cute.

I have this really bad habit of going to Internet Movie DataBase right after I've seen a movie just to see if the actors have been in other movies I've seen before.

Ironically, on my WinAmp playlist, Smashing Pumpkin's "Today" always comes after Fuel's "Bad Day" when it's in shuffle mode.

I'm only allergic to some medicine (penicillin and sulfa drugs) and no foods, which is weird because my dad and brothers are all allergic to seafood, nuts, and eggs.

The farthest north I've traveled is to Quebec City. The farthest south is Florida. The farthest east is Boston, and the farthest west is Ohio, but only on an airplane layover so I don't think that really counts.

Whenever I have a crush on a guy, it lasts a really, really long time.

I prefer to shower at night.

I lived the first 15 years of my life in a two-family house and then we moved to this single family house, which ia a half mile from our old one. We still own that house too.

I was a Girl Scout for ten years, all the way through high school. I also went to Camp Bonne Brae, the oldest GS camp in the country. Dorothy is a counselor at the second oldest one! We think that's the biggest coincidence...

I have an 80 year old can of soda that still bubbles when you shake it. My dad found it when he was working in someone's basement awhile back. My infamous blue elephant is named after their mascot, Klee-ko. Oh, and this website too. =)

I'm the biggest procrastinator in the world. I really should be studying for my Archaeology midterm as I'm writing this. I keep meaning to join some kind of group for it, but I never get around to it. (I'm serious! Really!)

My friends all agree that I have way too much Hello Kitty stuff. I have the phone, bedsheets, calendar, planner, band-aids, playing cards, keychain....

I met Andy while working at Target and we didn't start hanging out outside of work until the summer of 2001. We became really good friends and it's sad, but we mostly hang out at Dunkin' Donuts. The late night people there know us now. He's leaving for AF basic training next week (well, by the time you read this he'll probably be back seeing how I never update!) and I'll miss him tons. Hi Andy! =)

Tracey is my wicked cool roommate. We're going on a roadtrip along Route 66 this summer so she can make a documentary. Since she's a history major, she's trying to get credit for it, but either way it'll be awesome. My ulterior motive? *see above*

My biggest goal for the next year is to study abroad at St. Andrews in Scotland, but since I'm not special enough for MHC to fund it, I'm not sure if I'll be able to swing it. It was be SO cool to go to school with Prince William, uh, I mean study in another country. Yeah, that's what I meant. Contributions to the Help Carolyn Acquire a Cool Accent fund can be sent via Mount Holyoke.

I have a tendency to end things abruptly.
