Lions club of Manivannan since its inception in 1984 has been in the forefront in social service activities. The club is a dedicated team with a blend of youth and experience and volunteers to champion social causes with the support and encouragement of philanthropic citizens like you.

Even as India celebrates the Golden Jubilee of Independence, it is a matter of concern that Mahatma's dream of making a prosperous India through prosperity in villages remains an unfulfilled dream. Illiteracy, Unemployment, Poverty, Poor infrastructure, discrimination, Poor hygiene are rampant in many villages.

Manivannans are squirrels in this daunting task of making a more economically and socially vibrant villages. The club has adopted Kilnallathur, a village 40 Kms away from Chennai and trying our best to make this a Model one. In 1994, ITC the corporate giant handed over the administration of the Health Centre to our club and since then we have improved the quality of service in different deserving areas.

The village now has a full-fledged Health centre with a trained nurse available round the clock and a medical practitioner visiting twice a week for consultation. We have also established a mini-library, a playing arena and provided infrastructural assistance to the primary school. There is still lot more to be done for the welfare of the people. We take some pride in the fact that 3 Eye camps and diabetic detection camps as also monthly gynecological check up have been conducted till now.

It would be in the fitness of things if we make further inroads into the village and spread joy and happiness.. A smile in their face is an express of gratitude.
