My Poetry

These poems are written by myself, unless otherwise indicated.

LOSING A LOVED ONE

Death....

Enemy,

Terror,

Fear.

Losing loved one,

Emotional....

Draining,

Stress,

Sickness,

Heartache.

Losing a loved one,

Pain....

Empty feelings,

Felling lost and alone,

Emotional strife.

Losing a loved one, gaining them back.

Life....

Joyful,

Happy,

Carefree and true.

Hoping to see your dear loved one again soon.

Losing a loved one,

Hoping for the day when everyone you lose,

Is with you again, happy and healthy too!

CAN'T GET THE ONE I LOVE

I loved you from afar,
The love I had for you was as bright as a shining star.

I wonder why we are not together,
We could have had a great life now and forever.

We had such wonderful times in the past,
Why oh why could it not have last?

I cared for you with all my heart and soul,
The half has never been told.

My heart still aches for you, it is real,
Please, please let this be a dream still.

But even though I ache for you,
I know that it must be true.

That we are not meant to be together right now,
But I will try and stand tall and get through it somehow.

You will always be near and dear to me,
In my heart, that is where you will always be.

A TRAGIC CHOICE(written by unknown author)

On the table side by side,
The Holy Bible and the TV Guide.

One is well-worn but cherished with pride,
(Not the Bible, but the TV Guide).

One is used daily to help folks decide,
No! It isn't the Bible, it's the TV Guide.

As pages are turned, what shall I see?
Oh, what does it matter? Turn on the TV.

So, they open the book in which they confide,
(No, not the Bible, it's the TV Guide).

The Word of God is seldom read,
Maybe a verse e'er they fall into bed.

Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be,
Not from reading the Bible, but from watching TV.

So then back to the table, side by side,
Is the Holy Bible and the TV Guide.

No time for prayer, no time for the Word,
The plan for salvation is seldom heard.

Forgiveness of sin so full and free,
Is found in the Bible, not on TV!

WHOSE HANDS IT'S IN--IT ALL DEPENDS(Author unknown)

A basketball in my hands is worth about $19.
A basketball in Michael Jordan's hands is worth about $33 million.
It depends on whose hands it's in.

A baseball in my hands is worth about $6.
A baseball in Mark McGwire's hands is worth 19 million.
It depends on whose hands it's in.

A tennis racket is useless in my hands.
A tennis racket in Pete Sampras' hands is a Wimbeldon championship.
It depends on whose hands it's in.

A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal.
A rod in Moses' hands will part the mighty sea or bring forth water from a stone
It depends on whose hands it's in.

A sling shot in my hands is a toy.
A sling shot in David's hands is a mighty weapon.
It depends on whose hands it's in.

Two fish and five loaves in my hands are a couple of fish sandwiches.
Two fish and five loaves in Jesus hands will feed thousands.
It depends on whose hands they're in.

Nails in my hands might produce a bird house.
Nails in Jesus Christ's hands will produce salvation for the entire world.
It depends on whose hands they're in.

So put your concerns and your worries and your fears, in Jehovah's hands because, as you see ............
It depends on whose hands they're in.

JOYS OF FRIENDSHIP

Having a friend is great indeed,
Knowing they are around is a good, feeling to me.

There for you when you feel alone and down,
There to turn your frown into a beaming smile.

With friends nearby,
Time doesn't matter as we laugh or as we cry.

By having true friends close to you,
Each one brings something different into the friendship that helps you get through.

The joy of a friendship can be trying at one time or another,
But by working things out, makes the bond of friendship that much more stronger.

Just knowing they are there for you when you need them the most,
Makes the effort all the more reason to smile and to boast.

Over having such a wonderful group of people in your life,
Even if you are going through heartaches and terrible and painful strife.

Communication is the key to make it last,
Helps us to move on and leave the trails and errors in the past.

With these special people around you and near,
What joys a friendship brings that makes you feel like you are worth the time and effort, now you can put aside all your fears.

Joys of friendship---small phrase,
Powerful meanings.........(10/23/01)

I STAND FIRM

In my Faith I will always stand firm.
Though this world may taunt and cry,

In my Hope I will always stand firm.
For a beautiful, better time,

In my Love I will always stand firm.
Though this world will pace with hate,

Devoted, I will always stand firm.
Though this world disloyal stays.

From God's word flows the might of the strong,
And the weak one powerful makes.

In God's grace I will always stand firm.
On my own I could never remain.

With my life I will even stand firm,
And as I my last breath confer,

You should with that dying gasp hear,
I STAND FIRM, I STAND FIRM, I STAND FIRM.

WOMEN

They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.

They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous
They fight for what they believe in.

They stand up for injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.

They go without new shoes so their children can have them.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.

They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.

They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.

Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.

The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin!
Women do more than just give birth.

They bring joy and hope.
They give compassion and ideals.

They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have a lot to say and a lot to give.

IT'S IN THE VALLEYS I GROW

Sometimes life seems hard to bear, Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
It's then I have to remember that it's in the valleys I grow.

If I always stayed on the mountaintop and never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God's love and would be living in vain.

I have so much to learn and my growth is very slow,
Sometimes I need the mountaintops, but it's in the valleys I grow.

I do not always understand why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing, my Lord will see me through.

My little valleys are nothing when I picture Christ on the torture stake,
He went through the valley of death; His victory was Satan's loss.

Forgive me Lord, for complaining When I'm feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder That it's in the valleys I grow.

Continue to strengthen me, Lord And use my life each day
To share your love with others And help them find their way.

Thank you for valleys, Lord For this one thing I know
The mountain tops are glorious But it's in the valleys I grow!
