"Genealogies of Marion Co. [AR] Families 1811-1900"

Hi Melissa:--"Genealogies of Marion Co. [AR] Families 1811-1900" can be ordered from Historical Genealogical Society of Marion Co. AR (HGSMCA for short), PO Box 761, Yellville AR 72687. The cost is $60 including shipping and tax. Hope, after your enthusiasm, your check has enough left over. We've about sold out the first 500 we had printed, but are ordering more. It's something we plan to keep available for a good long time. Later. Mysty

TUCKER

Lisa,

I have a John Epps Tucker in my database: (1) Capt. Robert Tucker b. abt 1676 m. Elizabeth Parham
(2) Robert Tucker, Jr b. 1706 m Frances Coleman
(3) Daniel Tucker b. 1740 m Frances Epps
(4) Gabriel Tucker b. 1769 m Matilda Hicks Bell
(5) John Epps Tucker b 1800 (Ga) m Elsa Amgeline Tenkerley

Is this your ancestor? If so, his line is fairly well documented in both TUCKER TRAILS THROUGH SOUTHSIDE VIRGINIA and THE TUCKER BAND. Many of us at this list are descendants of your ancestor (2) Robert Tucker, Jr's brother, James Tucker. I also know of several people who come down through your line, at least through Daniel (1740).

I hope this helps Gary Tucker

TUCKER

Melissa, I believe you'll find Orange Tucker's family on the Carroll Co.,-Jefferson Twp., page 699 -1860 AR census. I don't have the 1870 Boone here at home but I have Orange and Matilda on the 1880 Boone Co. AR-ED18 S14. Below is what I have for the 1880:

Orange (54)TN,
Matilda (44)TN,
Elizabeth (27),
Mary A.(19),
Belle (17)
Ninta (12),
John (11),
Frances (7),
James (24)
and gr.children Lula (5)
and Lonzo (2)
I really don't know whose children the grandchildren belong to but I would say James since they are listed under him and he's listed out of order as to age. On the Boone Co. listing-Arkansas Confederate Applications -p.28 by Desmond Walls Allen you'll find where Orange served in the confederacy in Co.A, Brroks' AR Cav.
He died February 3, 1893.

I'll look in the TN census to see if I can find them listed in 1850 and the date of their marriage. I'm still trying to find the parents of my gr-grandfather,
John Epps Tucker b.1800 in GA and died in 1864 in Baxter Co.,AR.
I'm almost positive he has a first family somewhere because of the age difference between the couple. I'm trying to tie the Tuckers together there in Marion, Boone and Baxter Counties. There was a Calvin Tucker who came into Marion/Baxter and homesteaded in 1855 -1856 but was back in Independence County by 1860. What Poynter Louisa Luvenia marry?
Hope this has helped a little. Bertha

-------------------------------------------------------

Hi Melissa - I've looked at your postings on the Tuckers in the genforum. Are you a descendant of Orange Tucker. I would be interested in his ancestry since he came into Marion County and onto Boone by 1880. I do not have the spouses of his children and would also like to have something on his sibblings. My gr-grandfather was John Epps Tucker who the census records say was born in GA but died in Marion Co.,AR in 1864 -during the CW. I noticed that you have Louise Tucker md Frances Marion Poynter. I have Luvenia, dau of E. Perry Tucker as md Frances Marion Poynter. Do you have a marriage record of eithe Louisa or Luvenia and Frances Marion Poynter? I have Orange Tucker in Carroll Co. AR on the 1860 census records and had not yet come into Marion Co. Do you have that also. I certainly have proven myself wrong many times but in genealogy I do like to correct my records and will if you think these are wrong. This is a probate court record that I have taken from the court records in Baxter County, AR (Baxter was formed from Marion in 1873): "Luvenia E. Poynter & Others ayo Dew Jesse Mooney Know, all men by these present that we, Luvenia E. Poynter, heir at law, of E. P. Tucker, deceased, together with her husband, F. M. Poynter and Edmonia L. Estes, heir at law of E. P. Tucker, deceased, together with her husband, J. G. Estes, Jr., parties of the first part of the county of Marion, State of Arkansas, and Jesse Mooney party of the second part of the county of Baxter and State of Arkansas. That said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars.....in hand by said Jesse......, grant, bargain, sell, convey unto the party of the second part all of their interest, right and claim in the and to the following described tract or parcel of land to wit: The northwest fractional quarter of secetion (14)fourteen in township (19)nineteen north of Range (15) fifteen west, containing one hundred twenty three and 73/100 acres more or less.......witness our hands and seal this 29 day of March AD 1879. s/ L. E. Poynter, F. M. Poynter, E. L. Estes and J. T. Estes."

-------------------------------------------------------

Melissa - On the Marion Co.,TN the date is 28 Oct 1850 and Louisa is (1/12) old so she was born either in September or October 1850. I do not think that Luvenia is Orange's dau - but E. Perry & Matilda's. On his records she's born in VA and on later records she is born in VA. Orange was in Carroll Co.,AR on the 1860 census have not found where he was on the 1870 but he was on the 1880 Boone Co.,AR census. He did serve in the AR CAV-Co.A -Brooks- and he died on Feb 13,1893. I hope this helps. Let me know what you think and your family of Marlers. - Descendancy from Mary Frances. Bertha

My Grandmother was Virginia Lynch daughter of William Henry Lynch and Harriet Letitia Flippin. The siblings married into the Estes, Poynter, Sanders, Noe, Swafford, Payne and Emry families. We connect on a couple of these as well as the Flippins. We are third cousins once removed. I have learned that William Henry Lynch's parents were William Linch (Lynch) and Martha (A.) Marlor, who were married Sept. 28, 1840 in Montgomery county, Tennessee. I am not sure where William died, probably Missouri. Martha is in Marion County, Arkansas with her children. She remarries to William Hurst and then to Ellery Perry Tucker! I know that E.P. Tucker is your line. He has two daughters by a previous marriage, Edmona Lee Tucker and Sarah F. Tucker along with the Lynch children and Mary Hurst in this family. Are you doing any Marlor (Marler) research and if so have you come across Martha Marlor-Lynch/Hurst/Tucker? Also my grandmother Virginia married Henry Clay Swafford. His father was James Jasper Swafford who married Mila Frances (Molly) Summers. You show E.P. Tucker's first wife as Mary Jane Summers. Is there a connection there that you know of? -------------------------------------------------------
