This is excerpts from the
"Mtn. Echo, May 6, 1887
CORRESPONDENT'S COLUMN FLIPPIN FACTS." (Flip[pin being my great great uncle W. B. Flippin Jr.)
"Rev. O. H. Tucker will fill the regular appointment at Harrison on Sunday.
Last Wednesday being the 38th birthday anniversary of the Rev.
O. H. Tucker, pastor of the M. E. Church, South, a large member
of his friends gave him a surprise that evening by taking the
parsonage by storm and making donations of useful articles for
himself and his good wife and little ones. The young men of the
town gave him a nice suit of clothes, and various other articles
of apparel, household goods, etc., were donated Although a surprise
party, Mr. and Mrs. T. were equal to the occasion, and they
succeeded in making the evening pass pleasantly to all present."
*******************************************************
"MY BIRTHDAY, On the 6th day of October, my 36th birthday, just after supper,
many familiar friends greeted us at our parsonage home. A long
list of beautiful and valuable presents were brought to myself
and family. Among the number, a nice suit of clothes for the
preacher was presented by Col. DeRoos Bailey in behalf of a number
of young gentlemen and two young ladies. These presents, amounting
in all to $44.10 I am sure came from true and tried friends. I
can never repay you, but your kindness I shall never forget.
God will restore to you all four-fold; and may His rich blessings
attend you through life.
Owing to a sick child we could not make the evening as pleasant
as it otherwise would have been. But the hour closed with prayer,
and the song, "God be with you till we meet again," will be long remembered.
Your unworthy pastor, O. H. Tucker."
(This I thought was my Great great great grandfather..Orange Tucker, but after doing the math I feel it must be a cousin of his children.)
"The thanks of The Echo are due, and hereby tendered, Mr.
Wm. Racer, the artistic photographer, for an elegant photograph
of Mrs. O. H. Tucker and her music class, taken in a group.
Mrs. Tucker is the central figure, surrounded by her class
of young ladies and little girls, forming a charming picture
the loveliness and beauty of which this scribe would not
attempt to describe. Thanks, Mr. Racer."
"Service at the M. E. Church, South, on Sunday at the usual hours
-- morning and evening -- by the pastor, Rev. O. H. Tucker.
"On last Saturday I was presented a nice linen handkerchief from
Grandma Flippin that she had hemmed with her hands as neat and
nice as if it had been done on a forty dollar Howe machine. She
gave me the handkerchief as her eighty-eighth birthday gift." (This was by W.B. Flippin jr. My great great uncle).
"The concert to be given by Mrs. Tucker's music class on next
Thursday night, June 24th, will be, judging from the programme,
a most interesting and pleasing entertainment and those who
fail to attend will certainly deprive themselves of a rare musical
treat. The entertainment will consist of vocal and instrumental
music, tableaux, a pantomime, and a cantata, and we feel safe
in saying that the entire programme will be well rendered.
The price of admission, for adults, is only 25 cents, and for
children 15 cents. The proceeds of the concert will be appro-
priated to a most worthy cause -- that of purchasing an organ
for the Sunday school at this place. The concert will be given
at the public school house. The young ladies should be greetedby a full house."

"Rev. O. H. Tucker will preach at the M. E. church on Sunday
morning and at night."
"Rev. O. H. Tucker and family and Mr. James Wilson left on Monday
for Eureka Springs to attend the M. E. Church, South, District
conference which met in that city on yesterday. The conference
will be in session four days. Mr. Tucker will be absent about
two weeks, as he will fill his appointment at Harrison before he returns home."

(correspondance)
Melissa, I believe you'll find Orange Tucker's family on the Carroll
Co.,-Jefferson Twp.,
page 699 -1860 AR census.
I don't have the 1870 Boone here at home but
I have Orange and Matilda on the 1880 Boone Co. AR-ED18 S14.Below is what I have for the 1880:
Orange (54)TN, Matilda (44)TN, Elizabeth (27), Mary A.(19), Belle (17)
Ninta (12),
John (11), Frances (7), James (24) and gr.children Lula (5) and Lonzo
(2).
I really
don't know whose children the grandchildren belong to but I would say
James since
they are listed under him and he's listed out of order as to age.
On the Boone Co. listing-Arkansas Confederate Applications -p.28 by
Desmond
Walls Allen you'll find where Orange served in the confederacy in Co.A,
Brroks' AR
Cav. He died February 3, 1893.
I'll look in the TN census to see if I can find them listed in 1850 and
the date of their
marriage. I'm still trying to find the parents of my gr-grandfather,
John Epps Tucker
b.1800 in GA and died in 1864 in Baxter Co.,AR. I'm almost positive he
has a first
family somewhere because of the age difference between the couple.
I'm trying to tie the Tuckers together there in Marion, Boone and Baxter
Counties.
There was a Calvin Tucker who came into Marion/Baxter and homesteaded in
1855
-1856 but was back in Independence County by 1860.
What Poynter Louisa Luvenia marry?
Hope this has helped a little.
Bertha"
Beaver Cemetery is located west or Beaver. Go about 1/2 mile west of the town on Highway 187 and turn in the drive of the first house you come to. The Cemetery is behind their barn. Survey made by Ray Conley of Eureka Springs in April 1977. There are many unmarked graves.

GEORGE TUCKER
******************************************************
I too am researching Tuckers in Conway County, AR. I have so little
information about who they married though. Below is information I previously
posted:
Looking for the ancestors and descendants of JOHN TUCKER, born in 1765/66 in
the Missouri Territory. In subsequent census the same area was called Perry
County, Arkansas and Conway County, Arkansas.
From a will generously given to me by Helen Kirtlan-Fingando of Sacramento,
CA we find that John was married to a woman named HAPPY TRAVICE and had
three children:
1. ELIZABETH TUCKER, who married a LUCAS.
2. SALLY TUCKER, who married a MEDLOCK
3. LARRY TUCKER
It looks like these children were born between 1785-1788.
There was no divorce. The will states,"...I give and bequeath to my lawful
wife, Happy Travice, by maiden name, one dollar as all of that portion of my
estate hereby intended to be conveyed to her or such heirs of hers as may
have been born since her separation from my bed and board to be paid by my
said Executrix and Executor in the name of God, Amen."
His "beloved" companion, after the separation from Happy Travice was FANNY
SMITH. By Fanny Smith he had:
1. MARTHA TUCKER, born about 1812, who married a CRAIN.
2. JAMES N. TUCKER, born about 1808
3. WILLIAM T. TUCKER, born about 1810, married Paulina Adelina Humphrey
4. ALFRED TUCKER, born about 1814, married Jane Humphrey (sister to Paulina)
5. MELISSA TUCKER, who married a FITSWORTH (he died 1837, Conway County, AR)
6. JEFFERSON TUCKER, born about 1818, married 1847 in Louisiana
7. FANNY TUCKER, born about 1820.
These are the children of Alfed and Jane Humphrey Tucker:
1. William F. Tucker, b. about 1833
2. Feraby J. Tucker, b. about 1834
3. Ashley Tucker, b. about 1837
4. Perry Tucker, b. about 1840
5. Hampton Tucker, b. about 1842
6. Melissa Tucker, b. about 1843
7. John Jefferson Tucker (our ancestor), b. about 1845
in Louisiana, d. 1894 in Conroe, Texas, married
Anneta Whitcomb, 1875 in Houston, Texas
8. Owen Tucker, b. about 1847
These are the children of William and Paulina Tucker:
1. Janes N. Tucker, born 1835, near Baton Rouge LA
2. Narcissus Tucker, born Aug. 13, 1836, Baton Rouge LA, married George
Fisher, Thomas Kirtlan
3. Elmira Tucker, born March 3, 1841, Perry Co. AR,married William
Chamberlain Gann
4. Alfred Tucker, born 1843, Conway Co. AR
5. Jefferson Tucker, born 1847, near Baton Rouge, LA
