By Hecate
Kaito Ace, or Mysterious Theif Ace, at first appears to
be nothing more than Sailor V's mysterious rival. He
pops up in the end of volume 2, much to Sailor V's
confusion. All is far too soon explained.
The beginning of the third volume does not mention Ace.
He comes in in the last chapter, and what a last chapter
it is. We learn that he, too, was a part of the Silver
Millenium...long ago...
Ace was called Adonis then. He was a common soldier in
the army of Venus, who fell in love with the Princess
who lead them. But though he pined for her, he did not
speak of his love, for she was a Princess and he, only
a soldier. However, one day he saw that she was in love
with the General Kunzite from Earth, and he grew jealous.
He vowed that if he could not have her, no one would,
but he was killed in battle before this could be accomplished.
It is now present day Earth. Adonis is now the head of
an organization of Evil, and is now called Danburite.
He has learned of Sailor V's true identity, and is now
ready to carry out his evil plan. However, Sailor V almost
kills him, and so with his dying breath, realizing that
he does not have her now, nor will he ever, Adonis
curses Sailor V: She will never, no matter how hard
she tries, find love. Ever.
Ace is essentially a selfish character. It is he who is
behind Minako's pain, and he who in his own selfishness
cannot let her or anyone near her be happy. Yes, Galaxia
is bad, but Ace is worse. Not only does he not know how
to be happy, but he also cannot allow anyone else to
be happy either.
My friend has a word for people like him: Rat Bastard!
Mene's opinion Yes Ace stinks! (sorry if there is anyone out there who likes him!) For me what makes him the most despicable is that he wrote V off without even trying. People should not sit around waiting for other people to make their lives happen. They should at least TRY to go out and make their wishes come true. If they do not try then they have no right to criticise others for not reading their minds and that is essentially what Ace does. Grrr.
