Sailor Moon/ Bunny/ Usagi/ Uszagi/Annie/Serena/Princess Serenity/NeoQueen Serenity

This page is by Artemis.

As you may have notaced there are multiple names up there for just this one person, I'll now tell you way. In Japanese, both in the anime and the manga, she is called Usagi, which literaly translates to be Bunny. In the English and French translations of the Manga they call her Bunny. However in the English translation of the Anime they call her Serena. So when I am talking about the Manga, I will refer to her as Bunny, when I talk about the Anime, I will call her Serena. Now with out further ado....

Bunny

Bunny was just an ordinary eighth grader that was always late for school untill she steped on a cat with a crescent moon shaped bald spot on it's head. Ever since then this cat (named Luna) has been following her around telling her that she is the Sailor Moon, sworn to protect the silver crystal and the Princess of the Moon. As for how Bunny feels about it, well....If you were a whiny cry-baby, a whimp, and fell for every guy you came across, would you like it very much? Well she didn't untill she saw this cute guy named Tuxedo Mask (the name is just a little strange for me) who she thinks, and soon finds out, is sworn to protect her. From then on, life will never be the same for Bunny.

Major differences from the Manga and the Anime

1. Bunny is more likeable then Serena
2. Bunny kills Mamaru then runs herself through, but Serena is not that suicidal. (or at least in the Dic Version of the Anime)
3. And um....um...I cant think of any more at the moment

Things I like about the Manga

Bunny is more real and much much much much much much less obnoxous, and she and Mamaru are sooo cute together! (None of the cheesey lines that make you want to run out of the room screaming)

Things I like about the Anime

It's light, it's funny, and you get to see lots of different transformation sequences!!

Hecate's Opinion
I agree with Artemis that Bunny is far less annoying than Serena, although truth be told I am not overly fond of either of them. I think its interesting that of all of the Senshi, Bunny is the only one who does not come from a broken home. Perhaps this has something to do with her less enthusiastic approach to saving the world?

Mene's Opinion
I too agree that Bunny is more likeable than her anime counterpart. I like that Bunny is a crybaby. I think there is a severe lack of charecters who can shed tears and still kick butt. She is very weak charecter though, who can't seem to do anything without dying or losing her clothes a couple times (in the anime) But she always seems to manage in the end and as it has been stated in the R movie, she is everyone's mother. Somebody E-mailed me informing me that Sailor Moon, in the manga, has silver hair as opposed to Bunny's blonde. There is interesting symbolism in that since gray is asociated with age and Sailor Moon, being immortal, is as old as the universe. The silver also has to do with the fact that her element is the moon, which of course is silver. In a way you could say that Sailor Moon is the actual Moon. A small planet that in the greater scheme of things is not very important, but influences everything that happens on Earth.
