I laid my head on a pillow one night
   Thinking of our future, this world and its plight
I had just feasted on God's Daily Bread
   Words written therein still fresh in my head
 
I dreamt of a place with streets of pure gold
   I walked down the street and the scene did unfold
The river I saw was so clean, clear and pure
   Children petting lions without any fear
 
The colors like a majestic sunset, gold, blue and white
   Birds filled the skies chirping in mid flight
The sounds of a song filled my whole being
   As a choir of millions began to sing
 
Before I knew it I had to sing along
   Then I realized, this is a new song
The joy I felt filled me through and through
   The air smelled as fresh as the morning dew
 
Then I saw Him walking toward me
   All of a sudden He's all I could see
As I turned my eyes toward Him
   Even Heaven grew strangely dim
 
For the vision of Him outshines it all
   He looked at me as if to call
I ran to Him and held Him with embrace
   Then I saw the look of love on His face
 
It confirmed what I had suspected before
   That heaven is a great place, but He's so much more
My greatest desire isn't to live forever in glory
   But to be with the One who began and finished the story
