Just about a year ago Jesus came to me He must have seen my aching heart Or heard my mournful plea He led me to the altar He put me on my knees He listened as I begged him "Dear God forgive me, please" He's there in every crisis He leads me every day He's teaching me compassion All along the way The crosses that I must bear Had filled me with fright They're easier to carry now As I walk in His precious light I talk with him each day He's become a Friend to cherish I know that in Him I will never ever perish My life here on earth Is but a stepping stone To that great day in Heaven When I meet Him at the Throne God gave His only Son So that I could be saved And, oh that debt on Calvary That He so freely paid!
