Let me tell you about Mike and Sue A married couple I once knew Mike fell in love and asked Sue to be his wife Sue saw with Mike a much better life So they married and all seemed fine At least for a short time All Mike could think of was being with Sue Sue didn't care her love wasn't true She married to have a place to stay She never loved him but tried to obey Because she was afraid of being alone Shoved out in the street with no home You wouldn't believe how hard she'd work She cleaned the house and ironed his shirts She told him she loved him whenever he wished But to spend time with Sue is what Mike missed Mike just needs her love to see him through But she'd always have something to do Oh she'd have time for meaningless things Like the latest movie or talking with friends She wanted Mike to keep her secure So she could rely on a good future But does she realize that when Mike retires He'll have all day to be beside her If she hates spending time with him now Can you explain to me just how? She can be happy with him then? When they're together twenty-four / seven? I bet that's how Jesus feels When I'm too busy to kneel Oh I'll work hard for His cause And I'll try to obey His laws I'll make sure I tithe to Him When needed at church I'll fill in With all of that, it should be OK There's no time to kneel down and pray But Jesus' love for me runs so deep He's the Good Shepherd we are His sheep He longs to talk to me all the time And not just when I'm in a bind Without prayer, how can my love grow? For if I don't want to talk to Him now Why would I want to talk to Him then? When I'm with Him twenty-four / seven. Written by James Corwin |
