Can't send nice seasons greetings Nor buy the Christmas fixings, There are no super goodies Not all the special mixings. There is no snow, or ice, or frost, Just heat and persperation; No shopping in the busy stores In frantic desperation. And no reminders anywhere, Of Christmas Day so near; No get-togethers planned - because Folks just aren't near us here. But am I feeling homesick, And sorry I'm alone? And sitting here just dreaming, And wishing I were home? Oh no! My heart's contented, I have a job to do; I have a dear Companion, Who cares, and loves me too. With His sweet peace and presence, He keeps my heart aglow. He was not home for Christmas So many years ago. Miss Ines Penny ( Missionary to Nigeria) Decemberm 1988 "The Gospel Standard" |
