Old Saints Soliloquy

God has been with me on life's long road,
   Easing its burdens and sharing its load;
Soothing its sorrows, --each cause for tears;
   God has been with me, through life's long years,

God still is with me, e'en now, - today,
   Bearing me gently o'er life's late way;
Tending and caring, with love unstrayed;
   Granting His comfort, His strength, His aid.

God will be with me, as on I go;
   How long the road yet - just He doth know;
Trustful I journey - His hand holds mine;
   Safe is my life in His care divine.

And when my journey is safely past,
   When I, the Father's House reach at last,
Simple, but true, shall my song then be,
   O'er all the love He bestowed on me.
