It's so dark in my pit of despair
   What can I do to get out of here?

I cry out for help to no avail
   So cold and alone in my private hell

   Maybe I can make it fall

But it's useless I can't do it alone
   Dear Jesus, Help me find my way home
I know I haven't relied on you much
   But now I'm crying out for Your loving touch

I'm just a sinner who feels desperately weak
   My strength is gone, I'm just one of the meek
I see that I am worthless without You
   I need Your light to see me through

Then a sound came from outside
   So scared and alone, I ran to hide
But a knock came upon the wall once more
   I followed the sound and found a door

A voice came through, subtle and warm
   Open the door, I'll do you no harm
