Would you like to walk along the road
To Bethlehem with me?
Would you like the birthplace
Of the Holy Christ child, there, to see?
Have you ever wished you might have been
A shepherd on that hill,
When the angels sang that glorious news
Of Pead on Earth, Good Will?
Oh! I wish I could have gone with them
To seek the stable low
Where they found the baby Jesus
In the manger, all aglow
And I might have seen the wisemen
Led there by a star so bright,
And the gifts they brought to Jesus
And laid at His feet that night.
Oh! My friend, you need not walk a road
To Bethlehem with me
To find the blessed Saviour
That the Christ child came to be.
And you do not need a shepherd be,
To hear the angels sing,
For that song can ring within your heart,
And peace to you He'll bring.
And I do not hed to go with men
To find the stable low,
For the Saviour lives with my heart
And keeps my life aglow.
And I do not need a Star to guide me
To the Saviour's side,
For He walks beside me day by day,
And all my life He'll guide.
