Without

Wtihout the Bread, His body torn,
Cruelly, with malice and with scorn,
Hanging there on Calvary's tree,
In humility, for all the world to see.
Without His broken body, blest,
Reminding us He gave His best,
Suffering and bleeding there, alone.
His body given for sin to atone.

Without the cup, His precious blood,
Which flowed there in a hallowed flood,
In covenant for all mankind,
In forgiveness for a world made blind.
Without the holy cup, so blest.,
   Given with love, the tenderest,
Reminding us of grace so free,
Extended in love to you and me.

Without the struggle fought and won,
The sacrifice of the Crucified One,
Without His constant remnder today,
Found in the Word - the Truth and the Way,
Without the bread, without the cup,
   Shared in commenmoration yet;
In true remembrance of Him
We would so easily, so soon, forget.
          - Mrs. Marjorie Cooney
