An Introduction to Arumo, the Kingdom of Wilted Flowers:

Arumo is a world unlike any other. Once a lifeless ball of blowing carbon dust, it has been brought to life through the intervention of creatures known as the Living Gods, and colonized by humans. Without other resources, humans make use of extensive organic technology, employing strange creatures that can be sculpted into unique shapes and used as tools and weapons.

Living Technology. There are no significant concentrations of metal on the world, nor is there any stone. There are only the blowing dusts of the Outer Wastes and the organic continents of the Living Lands. Fortunately for human civilization, the creatures of Arumo are extremely malleable. They can be shaped into a variety of forms, and their offspring will retain that shape. This has allowed humans to create tools, weapons, and entire buildings out of living organisms.

A Caste Structure. The shaping of the natural world also saw the shaping of humans. When the great Kingdom of Arumo arose, its rulers planned a world of simplicity and order. To this end, they began an extensive program of selective breeding, fixing humans into three basic castes based on heritage. A person’s abilities and social status are determined by his breeding, stretching back hundreds of generations.

Living Gods. The lands of Arumo are given life by the Living Gods, enigmatic creatures who control the creatures of the wilderness and strive to destroy their peers and become the sole progenitor of life on Arumo. To this end, these creatures use humans as their pawns to fight for land and territory so the Gods need not risk direct conflict.

The Fall of an Empire. The city of Arumo was once the center of the world, where servitors of the Living Gods and other great powers would come to debate and jockey for power. However, the flowers that protected Arumo from the full might of the Gods have been poisoned, and Arumo has turned inward to protect itself. Because of this, the rest of the known world has become riven with strife, resulting in nearly a generation of constant warfare. Some strive to push back the coming dark age, but all know that if the city of Arumo falls completely, all hope will be lost.
