Buildings:
There is a reason for building walls other than to protect your flag in capture the flag games. This is to protect your buildings. Buildings are needed to make and repair equipment. There are 4 types of buildings: the forge, the hospital, the magic shop, and the docks. Each has a specific use to different units.
Forge:
A forge allows blacksmiths to repair equipment. If damaged blocks from a wall or building are brought to the forge, it can repair them at a rate of 3 blocks per round per person. They can then be carried away and re-attached to a damaged wall. A forge costs 40 points per person who can use it.
Hospital:
Inside a hospital, a has superior equipment with which to restore wounded soldiers. He must roll 6+ on 1D to restore a wounded soldier, with 1 roll allowed every round. If a roll fails, the medic may try again next round.
While a hospital allows a soldier to return to life, it does not guarantee it all of its pieces. A soldier needs at least its head to be resurrected, although it won't be able to do much without hands to hold things or feet to move around. Also, a medic cannot take parts from one soldier and graft them on to another. This is medicine, not necromancy. A hospital costs 60 points per medic who can use it.
Magic Shop:
The magic shop is a place of greater-than-normal magical energy. While inside a magic shop, if a wizard begins charging for a spell, he gets 2 points on the first round of concentration, instead of 1. These 2 points will not be removed as the magician moves or performs other actions, and will only disperse when he casts a spell. A magic shop costs 50 points, +5 per wizard who can use it at one time beyond 1.
Dock:
The dock is where ships can go to be repaired. When a ship is docked, 1 hull point is restored per round for every 3 people working on the ship. This is permanent and, unlike pine tar, does not get destroyed if a siege attack hits that area. Alternatively, a dock can repair one lost movement point due to sail damage per round for every 3 people, or it can replace one used barrel of pine tar. A dock must be on the coast. A dock costs 50 points, +10 for every 3 people who can work in it at once.
Damaging Buildings:
A building can be struck by siege weapons and thus destroyed. A building has 1 point of resistance for every 10 points put into the defense of it. When a building is hit directly, roll its resistance against the damage of the weapon. If the building wins, it remains intact (although the people inside may not, unless the building has a roof), but if it loses, it is blown to pieces.
An enemy soldier inside a building can tear it apart, either with its weapons or bare hands. Roll the weapon's damage against the building's resistance with each attack to see if the building survives. A torch or other flaming weapon can light the inside of a building on fire as easily as it can a living target, although the soldier with the torch must be inside.
