An oaken leaf floats on the wind, landing on the windowsill of Lord Jackal's personal quarters. Upon the leaf, letters are spelled out in spider silk...letters that shift and change to form a ever-passing message. To the Golden Dragon of the Divine Wind,
It would seem that thou hath taken our measure over these past days,
and we thine. Thy scouts and our own hath tangled on the fringes.
Let us no longer be hesitant and fainthearted...let us test each
other's metal in true battle.

I raise my Centaurian body into the air and paw the air in a victory dance. The fallen lands of my foe, Charlie Brown, lay enveloped in a hazy fog…smoke still curling into the air from the burning and destruction of yesterday eve's attack. 'Tis a shame that the scouts of DivineWind were
unable to be contained within their own borders… a blatant provoking of
the kingdoms of Inverness. Yet my warrior spirit prevaileth always…and I
find a certain satisfaction in joining my comrades to eleviate this threat
called DivineWind.
My troops fought with honor…with perseverance. Shall soon be a day of
celebration in my kingdom, and in all of Inverness.
'Mayhap some of the fallen DivineWood shall make
their way to the Centaurian room for comfort and healing of the spirit. I
shall extend an invitation to Wildmage, RuNNiN, Charlie Brown, and all of
DivineWind. I say outloud as I ride away…a red and
gold ribbon proudly displayed and wrapped throughout my hair.

Battle calls the warrior spirits. The winds blew hard over the field of battle, carrying the banshee cries of a thousand-thousand deaths. Victory had found Inverness that night, but it was bloody. And blood was flowing even now into the wounds of the earth. once asked an young soldier,"What is best in
life?"
replied his poetic comrade,"The wind in your hair, the sun on your
face, and a woman in your arms." cheers and laughter filled the place.
said the captain,"NO!" and the all turned and listened. "To crush your

The hunger had returned, and the weeks Kllan had spent sparring with Loki's Shadow warrior had paid off. Kllan took his souls, leading now with his sword, not his necromantic magicks. His power was not taxed, and his vision swam with the surge of power. He killed again, taking the souls of fallen soldiers, some even his own Wildmen. Riding the wave of power, he projected his power into his sword, releasing it to continue the harvest. As it floated off, to engage in battle, Kllan dismounted, and began the chant of what would be his most taxing spell. Beginning the chant, his sword guarding his back, Kllan's voice soon rose to a terrific shout of rage and hate. And the demon came. Bursting forth filled with anger, his size comparable to Mernazul's, he descended upon the opposing army, held in control by Kllan's power. As the demon ravaged the heathens, Kllan took whatever souls that the monster did not swallow for itself. Third day of the month of Fading Winter. An order of attack was issued across the lands of Inverness against the heathens of Divine Wind. I had some doubts but the words of Telani reassured me. The strike is to be pulled with uncanny co-ordinance but wheather it be succesful will be another matter. The pre-battle rally of morale has concluded as I can hear the booming cheers of the troops. It shall be a blood bath but one worthy of songs.
The troops are ready, I march tonight and hope to surprise the enemies. I shall report you of the results. Perhaps we shall converge and attack in unison. Either way, good luck to you too. Ceth of Inverness

The battle-weary apprentice stands over the battlefield, surveying his losses. While not nearly so vast as the damage his men had inflicted upon the heathens, the loss was still significant for the yet newly inherited land of his fathers. "What would have happened had I not arrived back in time, I can only imagine," Narishma thought to himself. "So much blood... so much needless violence..." And yet Narishma was loyal to the wishes of his guild, and the losses of valiant men who had died in battle was more than enough to inflame him to vengeance. While before now the actions of his kingdom had been neutral, the banners and sorcery of Narishma now marched forth into war...

The army marched on. Columns of Basilisks, moving ponderously, held secure the flanks. A few divisions of Djinns, no major force, formed the vanguard. Between, the bulk of the army, were the demons. Lacking any semblance to an organsied force, the demons simply moved as a huge mass of intertwining limbs and bodies. Their orders being to keep between the flanking Basilisks, the demons marched on. Mernazul was at their head. As he lead his armies on towards their next target, Mernazul let his mind wander... My minions grow restless. Where are the lands of
the Wind? The other warriors of Inverness seem to push back the Wind's
boundaries faster than my forces can keep up. It has been too long since
we've drawn blood, we must find a new foe now.
In truth, there was little to Mernazul's complaints. His forces had
been on the march for days now, and this was the first lull in the
constant fighting he had encountered.
He had first marched upon the lands of the ruler Efyian, in a striking
offensive campaign that had reduced that kingdom's once powerful forces to
mere pockets of sporadic resistance. After that grand attack, the Demon's
forces had marched further, in onto the lands of Yoshi. The kingdom,
reportly already weakened, was subdued with but miniscule losses for the
horde. Not dwelling long on the unworthy target, Mernazul had led his army
onto yet another kingdom, this on lead by one called Skyllan.
Skyllan had proved no more challenge than had Yoshi, and Mernazul had
not pursued the attack, frustrated that he was not encountering heavy
resistance.
And so the demon marched on, looking for a strong opponent to truly
test his armies. Thus far, none had been found. Efyian, Skyllan, and Yoshi
were reportedly amongst the mightiest of Wind's leaders, yet all had
proved incapable of fending off a single attack.
"Are there any of the Divine Wind who can resist
me?"

Oisin leaves Winds Bar and joins up with his forces steeled by their legendary ale. He had planned a bold attack against a stronger foe, the rewards would be great but so would the costs. Oisin reached his enemies borders and found the lands enveloped in a murky haze. He summoned his sorcerors and commanded then to raise a Wind to disperse the haze. The sorcerors called upon Barnabas to aid them. After a few minutes of prayer a mighty Wind swept through the lands and lifted the veil hiding these heathen lands. Oisin immediately dipatched a freshly trained battalion. They fought like the true warriors they are but neither side would give an inch. Sudddenly the lands were cloaked in another veil of fog. Again Oisin's sorcerors summoned the Winds of Barnabas, bringing light to where there had been preiously darkness. More of Oisin's forces attacked but no lands were taken. Oisin was beginning to wonder if this opponent was indeed too strong. He would have try one last thing, his sorcerors. His sorcerors prayed to Barnabas and unleashed a fury of infernos onto these unpure lands. Oisin himself was even surprised by the level of devastation, this surely must turn the tide of the battle. His men witnessed the devastation wreaked by Barnabas and this lifted their battle weary hearts. Suddenly they were advancing, heathens were falling before them, lands had been taken. They would push on to the heart of these lands until they were conquered. This was not any easy battle and was far from over but with Barnabas on our side we will be triumphant.

He looks over his ruined lands. The once mighty kingdom has fallen. Thousands upon thousands of his warriors lay dead in defense. He had suspected an attack like this, and had prepared for it, he did not expect how big of a battle this would be. 4 different kingdoms of Inverness had declared war, and many others supported by spells, thievery, and little strikes. Though his counterstrike was successful, the enemy gave him no time and the retailiation totally destroyed his kingdom. None of his warriors had survived the many ruthless attacks. Those who surround him now were new recruits, untested and unsuspecting of the battles to come. Sighing, Efyian turns away and prepares his kingdom for attack.

Rese sighed as one of her footmen strapped the last few pieces of armor on her small frame.. She had had to fight a few of them in hand-to-hand combat to prove that, though she was only fifteen, she was well into her training as a warrioress. And she refused to lead her armies from the safety of her keep; she was very like her mother. She had had mized feelings about this war, when the orders had arrived. She had been raised Barnabian; her mother had been devout, and the devotion had been passed on. It grated on her to be fighting people who had been her mother's colleagues and friends, but yet.. But yet, they were responsible for her death. She had not deserved betrayal, she had deserved respect and obedience from them. If they had had the same deeply ingrained sense of honor, she would still be only a ruler-in-training. Her mother would still be alive. The halls of her keep wouldn't be nothing more than a memory. The sharp crags and jags of the mountains, the curves of the plains on the Kegar Flat, the Great River's split, the two branches that provided the border between two of their allies and Talann, the immense forest in the south that was the other border, all of it would be the land she so intimately knew and the land she would one day rule, when her mother handed the throne to her. Now she was a child in exile, learning to follow a goddess she had previously despised, taking orders from people who had been her enemies. She loved those Barnabians she was going to fight, and she hated them with a passion. The footman straightened and patted her shoulder. "There you go, Lady." She nodded and strode through the door, gripping her sword. ~~~
It was a busy campaign.
Rese had reviewed the freshest reports sent to her aviary and chosen
targets with which she thought her small but well-trained army would be
evenly matched.
Against Ehlana, whose lands had been much harangued by her allies, she
had no trouble. She ceased after one attack, though, because the little
she had gained was not worth even the little effort her forces had put
forth.
Against Efyian, she had no trouble. She gained slightly more from his
lands, but not enough to make any more than two attacks really worthwhile.
Against Rahvin, who had been an ally of her mother, her men were not as
successful. They did not break his defenses in their first attack, and
Rese called them to go face another army..
Against Zell, her armies were easily turned aside. Rese directed her
forces to another target; it was not yet time to throw themselves against
an unyielding foe simply to batter down his defenses.
Against KDawgy Dawg, her armies had mixed success. Her first charge
broke his forces, but the second charge was repelled. They moved on, and
Rese decided that, at some point, they would return to conquer these men.
Against Gabriel, the war was good. Her armies did not break through too
easily, but they still advanced steadily. They continued the battle until
Rese decided that enough land had been won. No need to tire the men
unnecessarily.
By the dim light of the candles burning in her tent, she composed a
letter to her allies, reporting the success of her attacks today. After
calling a messenger to take the scroll back to Riaeli, take it to the
aviary and make sure it was sent, and bring back the news from home, she
leaned back into the rickety chair at the table serving as her desk and
yawned.
She was asleep almost instantly.
