Coldwell Banker
This can be a very slow engine. Liable to get error page not found messages when clicking on a link such as next page in the search results. When you try to get to a page you were at previously in their listings you get a blank page and have to click refresh and then the retry button in the message box. Search results can be ordered by price, beds, and baths. Requires registration. The newviewrealty.com engine (see above) produces the same results with less hassles. |

This engine demands that you select a certain type of housing (condo
OR loft OR town home
OR single family home etc.) BEFORE you make the search. It
when tested continually sent
me to an error message page if a search results listing was
clicked on to see details.
Then when I would attempt to return to the search results page from
the error message
page, I got another a 'WARNING page has expired' page, and had to
click refresh
and then retry in the message box to get back the search results
page. Rest assured
that their "team of dedicated professionals" is working on the
problem. Annoyingly,
defaults for searches are always set at price $250-350K.

This is the engine used by the chicago.dreamtown site, but at its own
site. Guess what? The "dedicated professionals"
at dreamtown.com accidentally left out of the version of the engine
on their own site, the option to search only in Hyde
Park Chicago, an option available at the chicago.dreamtown site. So
the version at the dreamtown.com site could not
be tested comparatively. The dreamtown.com version is almost exactly
the same as the chicago.dreamtown version
and probably suffers from the same problems.

You cannot use this search engine at all unless you go through their
free registration process.
When I attempted to return to the search results page from a details
page I would have
to go through the laborious click refresh click retry process. Its
listings do not appear to be an exact
clone of any other real estate search engine.

version here
makes it impossible to search for certain important neighborhoods
like Hyde Park.
It probably suffers from all the same problems as the
