TOURNAMENT RULES

There will be three (3) players to a team. No more no less. Other leagues allow you to have substitutions, but if you need a substitute for this tourney, then maybe you should just turn in your spikes.

Games will be 4 innings or 25 minutes long, which ever comes first. If a game is tied at the end of regulation (4 innings or 25 minutes), the game will go to extra innings where pitchers will then throw the "lob pitch." The game will go on as a regular game from there on, the team leading at the end of an inning will win the game.

An inning will consist of two (2) outs per team.

The strike zone is made up of a car tire, propped up between two cinder blocks.

There are no base on balls. Once a pitcher has thrown 5 balls to a batter, he must then throw a "lob pitch".

A batter strikes out when he has 3 strikes on him. A pitch is a strike when the ball hits the tire in mid air (a ball that bounces and then hits the tire will not be called a strike), when the batter swings and misses at a pitch, when a batter fouls off a pitch, or if the ball goes through the center of the tire without the batter swinging at it.

A batter will automatically be called out if a pitch goes through the center of the tire without the batter swinging at it, regardless of the count.

If a batter has 2 strikes on him, and a pitch is fouled off through the center of the tire, that pitch will be called a third strike.

The ball must go completely through the tire to be called an automatic strike out, or a 3rd strike foul out. If the ball comes to rest inside the tire, the pitch is a strike or foul.

There are no hitbatsmen. A pitch that hits the batter will be called a ball.

No chewing tube steaks without the rolls. Barbeque goods will be in full force, let's try to eat with good manners.

F-bomb's are very much legal but cannot stand alone. It is strictly illegal. The F-bomb C-note combination is legal, but a bit overused. Try to be a little more creative. The F-bomb, S-scud combo is good when followed by some long range of ammunition. See Todd Anderson if you have any questions or need new material.

A baserunner is allowed to steal a base only when the pitcher is on the rubber but is not in his windup.

A runner is out if (1) he is hit by the ball (indian rubbah), or (2) if the runner is forced out at a base.

If a runner attempts to steal home he can be thrown out in two ways: (1) he can be hit by the ball (indian rubbah), or (2) if the pitcher hits the tire with the ball before the runner touches home plate.

Only a standard Wiffleball can be used.

Only the standard yellow Wiffleball bat can be used. No foreign objects can be used on the bat or inside the bat. All bats are allowed to be examined or confiscated if found illegal.

Players are not allowed to wear any kind of glove while playing (i.e. batting glove or fielding glove).

The pitching rubber will be 43 feet away from the back of home plate, and the tire will be 2 1/2 feet from the back of home plate.

All games will have an assigned umpire. The umpire will be there to make a decision on any disputed calls (i.e. fair/foul balls and plays at the bases).

Ghost runners are not allowed.

No breaking mayodragons. In the past, many players enjoyed chewing tobacco or breaking mayodragons to deal with the intensity of the game. Now neither of these are allowed. If a mayodragon is found near a player or on the back of a teammate, automatic disqualification will follow. Possible bannishment from the league may then occur. The "Mike Pilla" rule will be strictly enforced.
