Pathfinder animation Frog-like rock or possible sign of life
The following image is from Pathfinder lander at Ares Valley, Mars. They were cropped and processed from source images
TwnPks_RkGdn_left_full (12MB, long download) and TwnPks_RkGdn_rite_full (14MB, even longer download) Animation was done for stereoscopic viewing ease. The top image was cropped from the above sources and mounted as animated gifs with no other processing except for resizing (courtesy, Timothy Parker, JPL and NASA).
The central object/rock is about 6 inches across, about half the length of the sojourner rover which came close to the area in an excursion. The Sojourner was blocked from this area by the domed shaped rock on the left. It was noticed that this rock had features that resembled a frog-like creature to a striking extent, especially when the "frog" was colored green as in the bottom image.
In the images below, the colors were adjusted by gamma adjusting and adjusting the hue channel locally.
Although the object could just be a rock, it also could be a fossilized creaure, an archeological artifact or even possibly a living thing. Eyes, legs and a right rear webbed foot are all present in the correct position.
Disclaimer/update, In order to see if "Froggy" moved during the Pathfinder's claimed period of operation July-November 1997, I went back to look at some images that were download in 1997. I was sort of shocked, "Every thing moved" and froggy seemed to morph into another "rock" not hop away like a nice little frog in some images but remained in one place while the background changed in other images
