As a tribute to Terry I am going to do something a little different with his chatroom. I am going to only post pictures of him here to honor his memory. This will forever be his webpage.
Terry D. Stephens, 63, Abilene, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Memorial Hospital, Abilene.
He was born Nov. 21, 1941, in Alexander, the son of Fay and Verneta (Seltmann) Stephens. He attended local schools. Following high school, he attended Dodge City Community College, before transferring to Emporia State University, where he received a bachelor's degree and master's degree in English.
Mr. Stephens taught English for one year in Inman and for 32 years at Abilene High School. During that time, he coached the Abilene debate team, which he took to 17 state tournaments and also coached the state championship team in 1974. He was also an actor with the Great Plains Theatre Festival, Abilene, and had worked in advertising for the Abilene Reflector-Chronicle.
While teaching at Abilene High School, he earned the Outstanding Young Educator Award from the Abilene Jaycees and served two terms as president of the Abilene City Teachers Association.
He was also involved in theater at Dodge City Community College, Emporia State Univer-sity, Old Abilene Town's K-State Players and Abilene Community Theater.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Great Plains Theatre Festival and may be left at or sent in care of Danner Funeral Home, P.O. Box 758, Abilene, KS 67410.
The Gay Men of ChatUniverse will forever hold the memory of Terry within their hearts. May the journey of his soul be long and forever. We LOVE YOU Smee!!!
